With the racing season done and dusted and the Nelson speedways annual prize giving wrapped up we thought we would share some totally trivial statistics for you all and the teams highs and lows of the season.

Firstly prize giving was a great night spent with friends and we managed to finally grab that best presented trophy.

It’s been an extremely long 14 months for Seven7. After purchasing the new car, finishing it off and experiencing a whole load of teething issues which saw us have many many hours in the shed to completing 14 meetings overall for the season.

As mentioned the back half of our season was much quieter with other commitments outside of our hobby.

A few of our completely trivial statistics are

14 meetings
3 DNS
6 DNF
30 races finished
39 race starts
136 Positions gained on track
41 Positions lost on track
4 Nightly podiums
7 Fastest Lap times

To talk about lows in our season would really only be the mechanical issues we had in the early stages of the season. The boys around me worked tirelessly to get these sorted and once we got on top of them we were away!

One of the highs of the season would go hand and hand with one of the lows. South island Tri series weekend. Having gearbox and clutch issues night 1 in Blenheim to all of us working on the car until 4.30am, grabbing a couple of hours sleep before getting back into it around 8am to then get the car to the track and have 3 awesome races to take a podium at the end of the night was ultimately the teams highlight.

The other main highlight was defiantly qualifying for the NZ title. Although finals night wasn’t our best friend it was an absolute blast to just be out there mixing it up with the fastest guys in the country.

On another note. The team have been in discussion about possibly having next season off and focusing on some other things outside of this expensive hobby. With rising costs in life and other priorities to chase this is potentially something on the cards for us. This will mean parking the car in the shed, building up the funds in Motorsport account and giving myself and my crew a season to relax and enjoy a summer.

This decision isnt something we are jumping straight into and hasn’t been fully decided yet

To my friends, my family and my supporters Thankyou all for the support and backing this season!

My fiance Leish and my 2 boys Hudson and laykn for supporting and allowing me to chase broomsticks to try and wins some rags to hang in the shed.

My Crew Cookie, Thomas, Chris, Nath, Ellie and Danique. Endless hours and dedication from you guys and I honestly can’t Thankyou all enough

My sponsors some of you guys were fresh on the car this season and some have been with us awhile!
As we always say it just wouldn’t be possible without you all and I hope we have done you guys proud this season!

Final home meeting of the season done and dusted.

Decent field of 22 cars showed up to contest the Easter champs
Nothing major to report from our end.
Went out to get some clean laps under our belt to wrap up the season. Almost felt like the first time this season we didn’t have any car issues or coming under attention from other competitors.

Race 1 from grid 15 running in the top 6 before having a small poke at another car, Got held up a bit finishing the race in 15th.

Race 2 from grid 12. Fast race with some good clean battles coming through to 8th place.

Race 3 from grid 6. Pinned the ears back and pushed hard, ran the whole race in 2nd chasing slippery down but just couldn’t quite get close enough to have a crack at the lead.

Finishing the night somewhere near 5th overall.

The back half of our season has been relatively slow due to work and family commitments.

With the racing season nearing an end and these commitments still there for us over the next few weeks that most likely was our last outing of the season.

We will have a bit of a recap from our season in the coming weeks

Once again massive thanks to all the legends who keep us out there!

Closed club champs

Back on the dirt after a lengthy break

Night started with the grand parade young Kailey Wilson from the 487n ministock has been keen to tag a ride for a GP for a few weeks but with us not racing she hasn’t had the chance, but the chance finally came and hopefully a few laps around the track on the back of a streety she sets her eyes on the premier class of speedway.

Not a terrible night for Seven7 Motorsport
It was clear from heat 1 that the knights were going to continue there teams racing streak to take out the podium, so we new it was gonna be a tough ask to land a podium.

Heat 1 grid 5 steering a clean race to P2
Heat 2 grid 7 another clean race to P3

These results leaving us top on points heading into a heat 3 battle.

Heat 3 from grid 6 seen us come under attack from mini muz. A busy race trying to find a way around the wagon. A couple of spins and a couple of executed passes around the future champ ended up finishing the race in P10

Not quite enough points to land a podium for the night but love being seen as a threat and coming under attention, Streetstock racing at its finest and the crowd loves to see it!

Congrats to these 3 for taking the podium!

99n Taylor B2B closed club champion love to see it man! Been a big supporter in seeing you progress since the day you arrived with a commy. Leaps and bounds!

11n machine always at the top and always been supportive of my racing and willing to lend some advice!

115n Batman, another well deserved podium. Supports so many people in speedway and it’s good to see a top bloke landing himself on the podium!

Always a thanks to the boys and girls who keep us out there and the sponsors who contribute so much to our racing!

New Zealand Champs – Night 2

Qualifying night saw us get away rather light on damage, so it was a cruisy morning checking over the car ahead of finals night.

Drawing grids 4, 17, and 20 for the three heats to decide a New Zealand Champion.

Heat 1 — Off to a good start around turns 1 & 2 before getting turned around in front of the whole field, creating quite the pile-up in turn 3.
Suffering a fair bit of damage in this, we just circulated to gather up some points, finishing 23rd.

A mammoth effort from the boys to get some bits straight again and give me a reasonably drivable car. Also a massivr thanks to Robin, Cody, corey and taylor for hooking in and helping us out! We

Headed back out the gate for race 2.
With the title hopes over, we again circulated, watching carnage unfold and waiting to see if any of our club mates came under attack. Finished P18

Race 3 — We went out with a game plan and managed to accomplish a couple of eliminations on some contenders to try and put some club mates up near the pointy end. Finished P12 (last car on track).

With the points accumulated over the three heats, we finished up 14th overall.

Not our year this year, and a wise man once told me that you’ve got to have a bad night for someone else to have a good one.
All in all, we had a fantastic weekend rubbing wheels with most of the fastest guys in the country, and I was just happy to be out there in the main show! But man, that bar raises heading into the second night of the New Zealand Champs.

Massive congrats to the boys on the top three steps. As they said at prize giving, Streetys are the premier class in speedway 👌🏻 We crash into each other, help each other fix it, just to crash into each other again and still laugh about it all over a beer or 10. Best bunch of guys out there!

For now, I’m off for a wee break and some family time in the North Island. Also giving the boys and girls who work around the clock on my race car a well-deserved break from the shed.

Unsure when the next meeting will be for us, as we now have a fair bit of damage to address.

And as we say every week, because it’s the truth in motorsport — we simply could not do this without our dedicated crew, supporters, and sponsors. Appreciate you all!
