14s draw at home 1-1 against Ferrymead

A great game of football to watch with scores and chances remaining tight throughout the game

A win for Methven would have been a fairer result on the day but that’s not always how it goes unfortunately with Methven creating more chances than the opposition

1-0 after 6 minutes and 1-0 is always a nervous place to be but unfortunately another goal just wouldn’t happen despite numerous efforts and 1-0 at half time

Ferrymead kept going and attacked every time they had the opportunity and defence did a awesome job but ferrymead managed to get a goal on a break away with 7 minutes left and it finished 1-1

14s still have a shot at winning the division with a top of the table clash against Selwyn next week but needing a win after today’s draw, with chch boys also in the mix it’s going to come down to the last game it seems

POD Oskar

Oskars first season playing football after switching from rugby and he’s growing every game, plays mostly at centre back but also covers at right or left back, has great energy, makes so many covering runs to clean up in defence and tackles well and with 100% commitment and effort and plays the ball nicely forward to teammates to get attacks going again,
Brilliant again today, well done Oskar 😎🙌

Our 2nd to last weekend of football, and another great time had by all!

The Methven Keas had an outstanding game - too tricky to pick one Player of the Day - it was taken out by the whole team!

This team played phenomenally today it was impossible to choose 1! Every single player played to the best of their ability; a great game to watch & ref with a heap of goals scored. We celebrated Jetts first goal, a stellar performance from Eric, impeccable sportsmanship from Huxley, High speed goals from Kyben, and great focus by Eddie.
Isaac's last game which he gave his everything to. And Neeva never taking her eye off the ball!

Such a strong, skilled and enthusiastic team at peak performance, its a shame we only have 1 game left 🥰

Methven 14s win away 4-5 against Christs College

On a cold wet morning the game started at a frantic pace with the scores being 2-2 after 10 minutes

Methven scored after 4 minutes and were unlucky to concede to a very soft penalty given by the ref which definitely made them loose their momentum and focus for 5 minutes and they conceded another but that snapped them back into action and equalised

The rest of the first half was even game with Christs college getting another through an own goal deflected in from a corner so 3-2 at half time

2nd half much more Methven’s game and scored 2 more in the first 10 minutes

Christs College were strong down the wings and always looked to get forward and the defence has something to do all game and did it well but it was always Methven looking more threatening and in control another goal each finished the game at 4-5 with 4 goals for Jacko and 1 for Oli

POD Holly

Great performance today, came close to getting a goal on many occasions and got into great positions but really high energy performance pressed and hassled the defence and midfield players and areas really well and carried the ball forward creating some great link up play 🙌👏

A very delayed game summary from our Under 14’s - sorry!

14s win 3-4 away at Chch boy’s high

Back to a full team this week with only 1 away

We met a chch boys team that hadn’t lost since we played them last time in the first round so expecting a tough game

Chch scored immediately in the first minute and were the strongest team for the first 15 minutes but it was a fairly even game, after that we started finding more rhythm and passing quicker and creating more opportunities

A brace for Jacko before half time brought us in at 1-2

2nd half more in control of the game and scored early on and countless saves made by their keeper, chch boys scored 2 goals on break always to bring it 3-3 and another break ending with a great save at the strikers feet from Freddie with 10 minutes left, the team stayed calm and in control scoring again with 5 minutes remaining and saw the game out with another goal tightly ruled offside in the last minute

POD Oli

Had a great game on the right wing, tacked well to break up play and win the ball back high on the pitch and keep pressure on, got into the box well and got on the end of chances and scored a great strike for the winning goal 👏🙌

Another great weekend of football as commitment, teamwork and enthusiasm continue to shine with the season nearing its end.

14s lose 3-1 away against Ferrymead

This score line really should be the other way round based on the game

Methven had slightly better of the first half with Ferrymeads defence and goalkeeper being the busiest and denied a clear penalty amazingly not give by the ref

But ferrymead went into the break with a fantastic strike from outside the box that gave the keeper no chance and a close offside call to get away for their 2nd goal

2nd half was even more dominant for Methven and got a goal back and then Ferrymead replied to make it 3-1 then the last 20 minutes was absolutely brilliant performance with Methven a constant threat, we missed a penalty unfortunately going wide, hit the bar and Ferrymeads goal keeper pulled off a quite amazing double save amongst several good saves to keep the ball out and it finish 3-1

Not sure how we lost and mood was good after the performance just more disbelief really but we go again next week

Plays right back or left back and it’s consistently putting in performances every week, stays calm, clears the lines well and has good positional awareness a really attribute to our defensive line
