Francesca Purcell - Nutrition and Yoga
Functional Health/nutrition and yoga! Hi, I am Francesca a Yoga Teacher & Holistic Nutritionist based in Mangawhai, Northland.
I live here in our little slice of paradise with My Hubby Nathan and two (not so small now) munchkins Sienna Rose & Ethan. I love to float in the ocean, get outside in nature, create little wearable pieces of art in jewellery and hang out with my scrumptious family. You will often find me barefoot and drinking tea ( I am a tea monster).
My philosophy on nutrition is holistic, I take wholefoods,

Gratitude is a way better motivator than guilt.
Guilt might get you moving, but it usually short lived. It often feels you have to, or you’ve done something wrong.
Gratitude feels different. It’s more like - I get to do this.
“I should work out, I’ve been so slack”
vs
“I’m lucky I can move my body today”

Getting a little greyer, a few more wrinkles… and definitely a bit more muscle.
For now I’m choosing not to colour my hair (that might change one day, and that’s okay too).
I let my skin show the life I’ve lived. The laughter, the love, the hard moments, the joy, the sunshine… and the forehead crinkles from concentrating way too hard while watching movies.
Something I notice a lot with people in midlife who want to make changes isn’t that they can’t, it’s that they’re not sure they can.
But they absolutely can. You absolutely can!
We see it all the time. People with busy lives, families, work, stress… slowly building strength, confidence and better health with the right support around them.
Sometimes you just need people in your corner who believe it’s possible for you.
If that’s something you’ve been looking for, send me a message and I’ll share a bit more about our free 5 day reset!

“Perfectionism is self-abuse of the highest order.” - Anne Wilson Schaef
If being perfect was my goal every day, honestly? I’d feel like I’m always failing.
That kind of thinking doesn’t just affect me at work, it creeps into how I show up for my health, my relationships, and even how I parent, and rest.
I don’t want to be perfect.
I want to be curious, I want to learn. I want to realign when make mistakes. I want room to grow without fear of not being enough.
Perfection tells me I am not enough
Progress tells me I’m human.
That sunrise however is more than perfect! 💕✨💕
Reframe this season, this chapter of your life!
Peri menopause can be challenging, I agree, I myself am right in the middle of it ✨ but if we understand what changes our body is going through, how to support and nourish then it does not have to be a time that we fear!

“Nothing is softer than water, yet nothing is stronger over time.”
inspired by Lao Tzu
This year, I’m inviting more softness.
Not as a retreat, but as a different kind of strength.
The kind that listens before it reacts.
That bends instead of breaks.
That trusts consistency over force.
Like water, softness doesn’t need to push to make progress.
It simply keeps showing up, and over time, it changes everything!

“There is nothing stronger than gentleness, and nothing gentler than strength.”
Francis de Sales
Lately, that line has been sitting with me.
Strength isn’t always forceful or loud. Sometimes it’s quiet. Sometimes it’s restraint. Sometimes it’s learning to say no, and being okay with that discomfort.
Or maybe it looks like being strong in our foundations, so we can invite softness in elsewhere when we need to adapt or ‘bend’ (think bamboo)
This becomes especially true when we’re at the beginning of a journey that asks us to find our boundaries. And for many women, it shows up again during perimenopause and menopause. As estrogen drops, we often lose some of that natural “fluffiness”. Our tolerance changes. Our priorities sharpen.
Maybe that’s not something to fight.
Maybe it’s an invitation to soften where it matters, and strengthen where it counts.

labels and diagnosis are everywhere in health these days. and honestly? I love a good diagnoses, it gives me a my clients a map, a starting point, a way to understand what is going on the body.
A label or diagnosis is meant to guide us, not define us.
Take a Hashimoto’s thyroid diagnosis as an example. Instead of seeing it as a reason why you can’t do all of the things, use it as a tool to put actions and steps in place to support your energy, hormones and general wellbeing.
A label is not a limitation, it is information. And information is power when we choose it to move forward!

Rebellion used to look like bourbon, ci******es, and a whole lot of choices that didn’t support me.
Now, rebellion looks completely different.
It’s choosing to stay out of the doctor’s office.
It’s not relying on medications as my first line of defence.
It’s staying strong, looking after my body, and refusing to let age make my decisions for me.
We all get to choose our own version of rebellion.
