Congratulations and welcome to Rhys Lewis on signing with Taita District Cricket Club for the 2026/27 Cricket Wellington Premier 1 campaign.
A highly experienced cricketer, Rhys spent four years within the Middlesex Academy, captaining the side for two of those seasons. His performances for the Academy and Middlesex 2nd XI earned him selection for the Super 4s, before going on to represent the England Young Lions.
Now representing Berkshire in the National Counties competition, Rhys also brings a wealth of overseas experience having completed three previous stints in Australia.
This time, it's a new challenge across the Tasman as Rhys heads to Wellington for his first taste of cricket in New Zealand. Having heard nothing but rave reviews, he's looking forward to meeting everyone at Taita and playing a key role both on and off the field.
A serious addition for Taita ahead of the new campaign.
All the best for the season ahead, Rhys! π€ β€οΈπ€

Taita Cricket would like to offer our deepest condolences to Pam and family with the sudden passing of Taita Legend Dave Stewart
Dave was a Taita stalwart as a player, administrator, leader and 100% loyal supporter to the end.
Dave's contribution to Taita was recognised in 2007 when he was made a Life Member. He was on the management committee for 14 years and President for 4. He was manager of the Taita Premier side for 5 seasons.
Dave was also the first sponsor of the Taitanium club via Accord International.
On the field, Dave transferred from Eastbourne as a junior, and he played mostly in the 5th grade team, but did earn 8 premier caps. He scored 2 hundreds with a top score of 112 and also took one hattrick.
Two years ago Taita renamed the Taita Cup, 'Best individual performance in premier and reserve cricket' to the Dave Stewart Cup. Dave, your name will always be synonymous with Taita Cricket.
We were fortunate to have a coffee with Dave on Thursday morning, where we discussed the upcoming cricket season he was a Taita legend and supporter to the end.
We will advise funeral details once confirmed.
Dave you are gone but never forgotten.
