Track status 29 August to 4 September – Cross Creek closures.
The Remutaka Rail Trail section between Cross Creek Yards and Cross Creek Carpark is closed on weekdays this coming week while safety upgrades are completed. Work is progressing well on the trail, with bridges and retaining walls replaced, handrails widened and raised, and spraying carried out.

✅ The track will be OPEN Saturday 29 to Sunday 30 August.
❌ The track will be CLOSED from 7am Monday 31 August until 4pm Friday 4 September.

Cross Creek Upgrade – Track closures ahead.
Our Remutaka Rail Trail section is about to be upgraded, with new barriers, widening, retaining walls, bridge works and drainage. The 2km section between Cross Creek Yards and Cross Creek Carpark will have intermittent closures during July, August and September while works are underway.

What you need to know:
➡️ The trail will often be CLOSED Monday to Friday and OPEN most weekends. When closed, there will be no access through this section, and no bypass available.
➡️ Work starts next week, with the FIRST TRACK CLOSURE from Monday 13 to Friday 17 July.

*Trail update*
A major refresh of the Taita Gorge area on the Hutt River Trail section. A few weeks ago, the ford here was totally blown out. Today, not only a shiny new double-culvert, but the track has been raised, widened, cut-back and resurfaced. Lovely job, thanks to Joby and team at Greater Wellington, and contractors Dixon and Dunlop.
