Thanks to Liz Neill for writing the report for event 713.

As it is only our tutu day for this calendar year, there are more parkrun events yet to be established in the Wellington region. There are also challenges that can help entice parkrunners who cannot yet complete a full parkrun alphabet in New Zealand.

You can read Liz's report below

Congratulations to our milestone achievers.

Another successful parkrun & parkwalk competed by 246 participants. A strong wind created difficult conditions for the run home.
Congratulations to Geoff Ferry who on the 22nd of the month got position 22 in a time of 22:22 whilst wearing a tutu.

Thanks to Co-Event Director Briony O'Farrell from Riverlution parkrun in Christchurch for writing the report for event 712.

As her fellow parkrunners were unable to make it to us, due to the fog last night, Briony was fortunate to do the first NZ established parkrun for the first time.

You can read more of Briony's report below.

Well done to 249 parkrunners in mild calm dry foggy condition. Everyone had extra protein from the bugs, and extra workout from long grass at the turn around point.
Nice to see pukeko while setting up the course as well.
Results have been uploaded and should be available shortly.

The Wainuiomata team setting up the "Gums Loop parkrun" (not sure if that name is confirmed) are looking for a few more core volunteers to complete their parkrun application. Here is their message:

Gums Loop parkrun
We are not far of being able to start a parkrun in Wainuiomata and hope to have the first one in early October.
For us to get our application approved, we need to have a core group of volunteers. You don’t need to be a runner or walker. You just need to be able to commit each week (or couple of weeks if we have a good group) to help with the running of the parkrun event. The key roles we are looking for are:
Bar code scanners
Timekeepers
Finish Token givers
Marshals
You will need to be available on a Saturday morning between 7:40 and 9:20am (parkrun starts at 8:am). We hope to get enough volunteers to create a rotating roster, so you don’t have to commit to every Saturday. We only need another 4 volunteers for our application but obviously, the more we have, the better it will be. For those of you who haven’t heard of parkrun, it’s a free weekly timed event where you run or walk a set 5k course. It’s great for those who want to have a weekly goal of getting active or just want to feel part of their local community.
Please contact Lower Hutt parkrun on [email protected] if you want to be part of getting this event off the ground.

It is almost halfway through the month. Can you believe it? It also means our next event is fast approaching.

The weather forecast this week is another wet one and be on the lookout for any potential muddy puddles.

For our volunteer roster this week, we are looking for the following vacant roles to be filled

- Finish Token Support (role filled)
- Barcode Scanner (role filled)
- Take down halfway cones and set them back out next week (post event close down and event day course check) (roles filled)

The following pacer times are still available

- 23 mins

We are delighted to announce our next pacer event that is on the first weekend of Spring, which also falls on the same weekend as Fathers Day. It will be twice as much fun.

If you are training for other racing events - long or short distance that you are looking into after the new year festive season, then this pacer event will hopefully improve your goals in mind for a faster mins/km. This is great training for the Wainuiomata Hill Run and the Hutt Marathon Events.

We aim to have a range of pacers available, whole minutes ranging from 20 to 40 minutes to keep you on track and get you to the finish. The aim could be to get a personal best on this course, beat your overall PB or can be a goal to bring a person with you, which could inspire them to run. You will receive a pacer credit and a run towards your name, if you are pacing at the event! Another reason to help others achieve their goals.

Pacer times that are available are as follows:
- 23 minutes

Details of our pacer event can be found here - https://www.facebook.com/events/1091492609880503/

Let us know if you are interested in being a pacer for the day by commenting below or email us at [email protected], if you are able to help out. No experience necessary.

Looking forward to seeing you there!
