Kia ora everyone,

We want to address the feedback about Aquatots at Foxton Pools being paused this term. We made the decision to pause AquaTots due to low attendance. However, we also want to acknowledge that there may not have been enough promotion to ensure people were aware the sessions were running, which means attendance alone wasn't a fair measure of community interest.

We recognise this has been frustrating, and we sincerely apologise. We should also have communicated more clearly when the decision was made, rather than people finding out the sessions had ended by arriving and discovering they were no longer operating.

We take responsibility for this and appreciate the feedback we've received. It will help us improve how we communicate and engage with our community in the future.

Ngā mihi.

We all know how busy the pools can get, especially with our tamariki having a blast.

It only takes a moment for things to change in the water, and often there’s no splashing or yelling to warn you. That’s why we always say, keep your eyes on the kids and stay within arm’s reach, especially for the little ones.

Phones, chats, and “just a quick scroll” can wait. When it comes to water, your attention is everything.
Aroha first, always ❤️

Kia ora community,

We’re deeply saddened to share that the Foxton Pools is temporarily closed following a medical event that happened this morning, Wednesday 20 May, in which a person has sadly passed away.
Our thoughts are with the whānau and friends of the person involved at this incredibly difficult time. Aroha nui to all those affected.

Our Aquatics staff on site provided immediate assistance while emergency responders attended. Police are now managing the matter and the appropriate processes are being followed.
We want to sincerely acknowledge our team and the emergency services for the professionalism, care, and support they showed in a very distressing situation. Support is being made available for staff impacted by today’s events.

The facility will remain closed while appropriate cultural tikanga and due processes are completed. We’ll share an update on reopening when we’re able.

We once again want to share our deepest sympathy to the family and friends of this individual.

Out of respect for the privacy of those involved, we won’t be providing further comment at this time.

Ngā mihi
