Invercargill Airport Fire Brigade has two team members taking up the Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge, all in the name of raising funds for Blood Cancer NZ!

20/05/2026

Hey, Corey and Jed here!

We’re incredibly grateful for all the support so far as we take on this fundraising challenge for blood cancer.

A massive thanks to Invercargill Airport and the wider community for getting behind us and helping spread the word, even if it meant a few posts that were slightly different from the usual airport updates.

Here's a little behind-the-scenes look at the chaos, laughs, and questionable acting that went into filming these fundraiser videos with Charlotte Neilson and Carla Forbes and the gals from Naked Creative (that includes you, Kitten Lady). We’ve had an absolute blast putting this together, and honestly, we couldn’t have done it without everyone getting behind us and making it so much fun along the way.

At the end of the day, it’s all about raising money and awareness for Blood Cancer NZ, and we’re proud to be taking on the climb this Saturday. We’ve definitely put our bodies (and pride) on the line, but it’s been worth every second.

Thanks so much to everyone who’s donated, shared the videos, supported us, or had a laugh with us along the way, we appreciate it more than you know.

There’s still time to donate if you’d like to support the cause: https://firefighterschallenge.org.nz/t/invercargill-airport-fire-brigade

We had a great time on air with More FM Southland 89.2 this morning. There's still time to donate - which means there's still time for more cringey content. Watch this space, team!

Plenty of laughs this morning with Corey & Jed from the Invercargill Airport Firefighter Crew.

They’re taking on the Sky Tower Challenge this weekend and have thrown everything at their campaign, including some questionable photo shoots 👀

If you’re able to donate, head to the link below!

Righto, Invercargill… who’s next?
Fulton Hogan set the bar high with an epic donation, and we've had so many kind organisations and individuals back us - but we know that our reels and "kitten-saving" antics mean there are probably a few more businesses out there, quietly wanting to jump on the bandwagon.
Now’s your chance to step up, get behind the boys, and make your mark. Whether it’s big or small, every dollar counts, and it all goes towards a bloody good cause 🩸
Tag a business, call someone out, or jump in yourselves, let’s see who’s got it! It's go-time for Corey and Jed on Saturday, 23 May, which isn't far away.

This thing is going back and forth; no one can hold the lead.
Corey and Jed are trading blows, and it’s getting tight.
Who's going to come out on top?
They've got until Saturday, 23 May to battle it out - and then the real fight begins!

At the start: how to pose with the bros - firefighter edition. Nice, composed, everyone looking like they know what they’re doing.

Fast forward about 15 seconds: it all went out the window - Charlotte Neilson getting launched into the air definitely wasn't part of the plan.. or was it!

It's safe to say things escalated pretty quickly, but in all seriousness, it’s been unreal seeing everyone get in behind this. The laughs, the support, and the generosity have all been something pretty special.

If we gave you a laugh, or you’ve been following along, now’s a pretty good time to jump in and support Blood Cancer NZ: bit.ly/IAL2026JedCorey

Every dollar counts. and it all goes towards a bloody good cause.

Cheers, Corey and Jed 😘

Huge thanks to Fulton Hogan Invercargill for their donation!

Steve from Fulton Hogan reckons this one was a tactical move - putting the donation under Corey’s name to help him close the gap on Jed… we’ll see how that plays out 😂

Every dollar counts, and this one was nothing short of epic.

Really appreciate you getting in behind the Invercargill Airport boys and the cause!

This is emotional manipulation… and it’s working.
Now, support us as we climb 1103 stairs in full gear, questionable decision-making included.
PS: No kittens were harmed during the fundraising of this event. The same cannot be said for our legs.
Donate and make this worth it 👇

The Firefighter Sky Tower Challenge isn’t just a climb; it’s 1103 stairs in full gear, pushing every limit you’ve got.

For Corey and Jed from Invercargill Airport, this is about more than the challenge. It’s about showing up, putting in the work, and raising as much as possible for Leukaemia & Blood Cancer NZ.

The training’s real. The stairs are brutal. And the cause matters.

If you can, get behind the boys 👇

Two firefighters.
One terrible idea.
And a slightly cringey photoshoot no one asked for.

We’re taking on the Sky Tower Challenge on behalf of Invercargill Airport again this year, climbing 1,103 stairs in full gear, and doing whatever it takes to raise a few dollars along the way - including completely taking the p**s out of ourselves.

If you got a laugh out of this, do us a solid and flick a couple of bucks our way 👇

All jokes aside, it’s for a cause that hits home for many people, so we appreciate the support.
