After debuting together at Stag Day 2025, Ale and Nic also played their Blazer Game together last night at home, vs Hawke's Bay. That's pretty special.

Well done boys on your awesome achievement, two Stags who always give it their all and wear the maroon and gold with pride.

Welcome to our newest SBS Bank Southland Stags Gregor Rutledge and Takaya Saito.

Debut: Thu 27 Aug 2026, Rugby Park Invercargill vs Hawke's Bay. Put it in the history books.

The boys fought back in the second half, scoring three tries in tough conditions.

It was also a night of firsts and milestones, with two Stags (Gregor & Takaya) making their debuts and two players (Ale & Nic) bringing up their blazer games in the Southland jersey.

And to everyone who braved the Thursday night weather and got behind the boys — thank you.
