🚴 Race Cancelled – South Port Riverton–Tuatapere–Riverton

Unfortunately, today’s South Port Riverton–Tuatapere–Riverton Road Race has been cancelled due to low senior rider entries.

The decision was made yesterday afternoon, and all entrants were notified by email. All entry fees will be refunded.

A reminder that we do need riders to get their entries in on time. Entry numbers determine whether our races can go ahead, and late entries make it difficult to make these decisions and organise races successfully.

Thanks to everyone who entered, and to South Port NZ and Autoplex for their continued support of cycling in Southland. 🚴

We hope to see good numbers on the start line for our next race!

We need a minimum of 25 riders entered by lunchtime Friday for the race to go ahead, so if you're planning on riding, please get your entry in!

The Southern Insulation Track Series kicks off next Tuesday, 1 September, with three evenings of track racing:

📅 Tuesday, 1 September
📅 Monday, 7 September
📅 Tuesday, 22 September

Racing is open to all ages, providing a great opportunity to get on the track, enjoy some competitive racing and build valuable race experience.

There will also be a strong focus on our school riders, with the series providing valuable preparation leading into the New Zealand Secondary Schools and South Island Combined Track Championships, followed by the National Track Series in October.

The 7 September round will have an added point of interest, with UCI Technical Commissaire Zac Prendergast joining us as part of his UCI technical role to take technical notes on our velodrome. Zac has officiated at the Olympic Games and last year made history as the first New Zealander to officiate at the iconic Tour de France.

As part of his technical assessment, we may need riders — both juniors and adults — to take part in particular races or scenarios on the evening, adding something a little different to the usual programme.

Whether you’re preparing for upcoming championships, looking for some quality racing, or simply keen to get back on the boards, we’d love to see you across the Southern Insulation Track Series.
