Tomorrow we celebrate 10 Years of Carlson Gracie Jiu Jitsu Invercargill. This photo is from 10 years ago. A humble beginnings where a small group of friends who shared the same passion for jiu jitsu started something amazing. We have been blessed as a club to have had some truly incredible people walk through the doors and contribute to the amazing growth of our club. We thank these original members whose persistence and vision led to the large family that we will celebrate with tomorrow.

Coming this Saturday we are celebrating 10 years of Carlson Gracie Invercargill. We would love to see all past and present members (maybe some future ones too!)
At 10am will be a seminar run by Jose Gomes - very excited to have him sharing some awesome techniques with us. 11am we will get some rolling in, followed by 10 Year Celebrations and Gradings. At the conclusion of this we would love to get a big photo of all of our adults and kids to show our amazing growth from Day One. We are so proud of everyone who has shared the journey with us and would love to see everyone there! Kids are invited to watch the grading and jump in the photo afterwards.
We will finish with a BBQ / Shared Lunch at the conclusion of the event.
Come and celebrate with us! We can't wait to see everyone there!

On Saturday we had Francis Lelievre and Nikotemo salesa travel to Dunedin to compete in the Ōtepoti Boxing Club Fight Night.
A massive thank you to Ōtepoti Boxing Club and Chase Reihana Haley for putting on such an amazing event and taking a chance on 2 Jiu Jitsu matches in a predominantly Boxing and Kick Boxing card. We really appreciate the opportunity to showcase our sport in the spotlight 🙏
The boys did an amazing job, both putting on exciting and assured performances. Niko had a good back and forth match and finished his opponent with a Knee Bar - very proud of the composure shown by a 17 year old when put in the spotlight. Francis continued his good form and has become a man who thrives in front of an audience. It will be no surprise to his teammates that he eventually outworked his opponent to find the armbar finish - nobody in the gym works harder.
Thank you to Sara for the amazing photos 📸😍, helping to warm up Francis up and your amazing support throughout the day. Thank you Mase Salesa , I know it meant a lot to Niko having you in his corner. Lastly, thank you to Steven Booth for getting this to all come together - appreciate you helping to get Jiu Jitsu an audience and giving our athletes a place to shine!

🚨 Overdue - but important! 🚨
Congratulations to on her performance up at the National Champions where she secured two silver medals.
Sara is both diligent and obsessed. While a lot of people turn up to training, go home and forget about jiu jitsu. Sara lives it as a way of life. She has a study schedule, gym schedule, looks after her body and nutrition, and plans amazing kids classes. She does all of this without neglecting the other important things in her life.
Sara looks after all of the new women into the club - giving advice, making time to provide individual training and planning social events and trips. In the kids class, Sara shows a kind and caring approach but also holds the young ones accountable. She sets a positive example about what can be achieved through hard work.
Sara is one of the most active female competitors on the NZ grappling scene and provides a blueprint for other women and girls from our club wanting to do the same. On a circuit where women sometimes find it hard to find a match up Sara turns up.
We are really proud of you Sara! Thank you for everything that you do and we can't wait to see what the year ahead holds for you.
