What a fantastic week on the trail last week. It was a pleasure to spend time with Angela Scott and Deb Tapp from Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand and Rosemary Baird from Tohu Whenua as they experienced the second half of the trail and joined us for the annual forum.
We're sharing a few highlights from their journey and some of the many great moments along the way.
A huge thank you also to Angela and Deb for leading the marketing session with our Official Partners. Their insights provided plenty of practical tips on how partners can maximise their involvement, make the most of the Official Partner programme, and leverage the strength of the Great Rides brand.
Thank you also to all our partners who assisted with the visit.

It's been a pleasure hosting Angela Scott, Deb Tapp Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand and Rosemary Baird from Tohu Whenua on the West Coast Wilderness Trail this week ahead of today's West Coast Wilderness Trail Forum, which gets underway at the earlier time of 12.30pm at the Hokitika RSA.
Here are a few photos from what has been a fantastic ride so far.
This trip is all about getting out on the trail, connecting with our partners, communities and trail teams, and experiencing firsthand what makes this journey so special.
For Angela, the Wilderness Trail has exceeded all expectations.
"The Trail ticks all the boxes. It's an accessible destination for both domestic and international visitors, with rich culture and heritage, outstanding food and hospitality, memorable local characters, and an incredible diversity of scenery."
"There's a beautiful rawness about the Coast. Riders are looking for deeper, more meaningful experiences, and this trail delivers exactly that."
We couldn't agree more. Thanks to everyone who is helping support the visit. Congratulations to the Guardians of Paroa on the fantastic work you’ve put into the new picnic area at Paroa, officially opened last week.
Despite the wet weather, it was wonderful to see such great turnout and enthusiasm on the day — nothing could dampen the spirit! The improvements to this part of the trail are truly impressive and the area is looking absolutely great.
A big thank you to everyone who contributed their time, effort, and passion to make this happen. Your hard work has created something special for the whole community to enjoy.
