2026 Hawkes Bay Open Snooker Championship T8 Section Play

I saved the best for last in our 3 part production for the 2026 Hawkes Bay Open Snooker Championship happening this weekend at the Clubs Hastings.

40 Players descend into the sunny Hawkes Bay come Friday and Saturday and there is only 1 Champion leaving the Bay with the $2.5k 1st prize.

2026 Hawkes Bay Open Snooker Championship.

On the 12th & 13th September, Hawkes Bay Confederation of Billiard Sports Incorporated is hosting the above event at Clubs Hastings.

The HBCBS would like to invite you to attend and cover the event in conjunction with other invited media attendees.

This is the premier event of the year for HBCBS following a successful North Island Championship in May 2026.

This is the only Regional Ranking event that has surpassed the $5000 in prize money for the last 3 years, this year offering $7540 with a Winners purse $2500.

This has only been possible by the hard work of a dedicated Committee & the generosity & support of local businesses along with players from across the country who atest the event is the best in the yearly Snooker Calendar, professionally run to accomodate players and supporters alike.

This year we have the event titled after our Major Sponsor , a company that was also the Major sponsor of the North Island Championship.

I bring you sad news that Snooker stalwart of Clubs Hastings and tge NZ Masters that David (Peanut) Whitaker passed away this morning peacefully.

Our condolences go out to the family of David

Funeral arangements will be posted later.

RIP Peanut you were a man of many talents including your game of snooker through the years of playing.
