MCMILLAN MASTERCLASS AT HOME TRACK!

Hawke’s Bay local Luke McMillan put on a standout performance at his home track at the Hawke's Bay Heavy Haul Blossom 57 karting event, steering his Lando Norris OTK Kart to the top step of the podium.

McMillan finished the weekend 11 points clear of Wellington’s Jack Strand, with an impressive six wins from ten races showcasing his racecraft, consistency and undeniable home-track advantage.

Strand claimed second overall, with fellow Hawke’s Bay local Lachlan Roberts rounding out the podium in third.

And just when the weekend looked to be wrapped up, there was one more race to settle, the All-In Senior Grand Prix, bringing together the Vortex DVS, Rotax Max Light and Rotax Max Heavy classes for one final battle, with a cash prize up for grabs thanks to DL Tree Specialists.

Hawke’s Bay’s James van den Berk was first across the finish line after an impressive drive through the field from P15, but a post-race review of footage found him to have passed under yellow flags, resulting in a 10-second penalty.

An unfortunate end to what had been a strong weekend for van den Berk, but it opened the door for McMillan to claim the Senior Grand Prix victory - capping off an outstanding home-track weekend for the local lad.
