🌿 🧗 JOIN OUR OUTDOOR ADVENTURE TEAM! 🛶 🏹
Our Y Hawke’s Bay Outdoor Adventure Hub is growing, and we’re looking for more awesome people to join our instructor team!
If you:
🙌 Enjoy working with young people
💪 Are confident managing groups
🌲 Love being active and outdoors
🧗 Have outdoor, rock climbing, sport, recreation or coaching experience we’d love to hear from you!
Full training can be provided, so you don’t need to be an expert in every activity. We’re particularly keen to hear from people who are available during school hours, as our school and group bookings continue to grow.
Our Hub delivers a growing range of activities including rock climbing, kayaking, rafting, archery, orienteering and team-building activities.
Whether you’re an experienced outdoor instructor, work casually or part-time elsewhere, or simply want to pick up some extra hours doing something a little different, this could be a great opportunity.

Our climbing wall is getting an upgrade! 🧗♀️🔨
Another exciting step forward for The Y Outdoor Adventure Hub at Mitre 10 Park!
Our climbing wall is currently getting a much-needed makeover, with a full reclad and maintenance work underway to give it a fresh start and get it ready for its next chapter.
A huge thank you to The Lion Foundation for providing the funding to make this upgrade possible, and to the awesome team at Direct Earth Limited and their scaffolders for helping us bring it all together.
We’ve also been incredibly fortunate to receive support from Sport Hawke's Bay, First Light Community Foundation, The Tūpiki Trust (New Zealand Alpine Club) and the New Zealand Great War Memorial Soldiers Trust. Their support has helped us invest in new climbing equipment, staff training and the work required to get the climbing programme safely up and running.
It’s been a real team effort, and it means that when the wall is ready to go, our young people will have access to quality equipment, trained staff and an awesome new local climbing experience.
There’s still a little more work to do before we can fully open the wall, but we’re getting closer – and we can’t wait to see Hawke’s Bay tamariki and rangatahi climbing it! 🧗♂️
Another exciting piece of the Y Outdoor Adventure Hub coming to life. 🌿☀️

🎉 And just like that... our Y-Kids Holiday Programme has come to an end! 💙
What an amazing way to finish off two weeks of fun, adventure, and unforgettable memories! All of our Y-Kids Holiday Programmes came together for an awesome celebration filled with delicious hāngī, a bouncy castle, hair styling, games, and heaps of exciting activities.
One of the most heartwarming parts of the day was seeing so many of our incredible tamariki lend a helping hand with preparing the kai for our hāngī. Watching them work together, share laughs, and take pride in helping out made the day even more special.
It was the perfect way to end an action-packed holiday programme, filled with smiles, new friendships, and memories that will last long after the holidays are over. We can't wait to do it all again next time! 💛

Week 2 Day 4 Marewa
Today's adventure started a little late as we had to wait for the tides to be right for our tamariki. So we headed to the park for a while and had some lunch in the sun. Once the time was right, we headed down to explore the rock pools here in Napier. 🛝🌊🦀🦑🪸🐚🐙🪼
We then did a scavenger hunt, where we had different creators to find and name, and also answer a few questions about different things around us. 👀⛅️ 🐚✍️

Week 2 Day 3 Marewa : Tokaroa & Toi.
The day started a bit chilly, so we started our day coloring in Māori pictures, and creating Māori crowns.🪶👑
Once the sun was out and the weather was warmer, some tamariki went outside and made their own fort and ate morning tea together. We also had different games being played, like tennis, soccer and basketball.🎾🏓🏰
After lunch, the staff set up a creative activity where the tamariki created their very own masterpiece with paintings and gems on river rocks.🪨🎨🖌️
We also had games, music and movies out for everyone to enjoy.🎶🎥👾🎲

🌟 Week 2, Day 4 – Tiny Creations 🛶
What a fun-filled day of creativity at Y-Kids Raureka! 🎨 Our tamariki had an amazing time creating their very own waka and wharenui, adding their own unique Māori-inspired designs and letting their imaginations run wild. It was fantastic to see how proud they were of their creations, and most importantly, how much fun they had making them. A day full of smiles, creativity, and happy memories!

Week 2: day 4 at Taradale.
Awesome day of arts and crafts. We created our own waka, wharenuis, and blinged some rocks! 🌞👍

Week 2 Day 3 Movies
The Tamariki from our Taradale site went to the movies 🍿🎥 to watch Moana live, what a lovely movie the Tamariki thoroughly enjoyed it.
We then went to Anderson Park for lunch and a play🛝😀
