Some great action happening in the bay this weekend. Please be aware the park will be busier than usual 🏉
🏉 A historic weekend of rugby league is coming to Hawke’s Bay!
This Saturday and Sunday, Mitre 10 Park will host a huge weekend of NZRL senior representative rugby league, bringing some of the country’s best men’s and women’s teams to Hawke’s Bay.
Across the weekend we’ll host the NZRL Men’s Premiership North Island qualifiers, Sky Sport National Women’s Premiership, and the Men’s and Women’s National Championships – with Hawke’s Bay represented in both Championship competitions.
Games will be played across five fields, with the action building to the Men’s and Women’s Championship Grand Finals on Sunday afternoon, inside the Grandstand oval. 🏆
It’s fantastic to see national-level rugby league being played right here in Hawke’s Bay – so come on down, get behind our local teams and be part of a massive weekend at the Park!

Bringing some serious energy is our second All Star Sports Night athlete... Mathew Ragg 💪
Seven-time New Zealand's Strongest Man, Seventh in the 2026 World's Strongest Man, and an overall good kiwi bloke.
He’s backing our fundraising event, by going head-to-head with a challenger from the crowd in a quick-fire strength showdown to help us raise funds. (That person could be you or someone you nominate)
This round will be one to watch!

Yesterday we celebrated two anniversaries. Four years since our Aquatic Centre opened, and ten years since our first ever employee Kelly joined the Trust, back when it was just an idea.
In 2015 Sir Graeme Avery's vision was to create a five star facility and a healthier Hawke's Bay. From a small team and a tin shed gym, to the doors opening seven years ago, to building an aquatic centre, 72 bed hostel and the programmes we've got now, it's been an incredible journey!
We celebrated the way you'd expect: the staff in their best sports fits, and customers swimming 400m for cupcakes 🏊♀️🧁
None of it happens without the people and businesses who backed us early on. To everyone who's been part of it, thanks for being on this ride with us.
Here's to the next chapter (and the next cupcake swim).

A little sneak peek into the excitement that will be happening at All Stars Sports Night for one of our challenge rounds.
Our round partner Technogym have supplied the rower, now it’s your time to show us what you’ve got 🔥
Head into reception, give it your best to 500m and put your name + time up on the leaderboard!
Who knows, you may just be our next Aimee Fisher! 😉

Introducing our first All Stars Sports Night Fundraiser athlete👇
She's one of NZ's most accomplished sprint kayakers. A gold medallist, two-time Olympian (2016 and 2024) and World Champion in 2021.
Most importantly, she's a key part of our home here 🧡
Her pictures are on the walls, she's training in the gym, and she's inspiring the next generation of athletes across our athlete development programme.
How it works:
➡️ On 6 November, you get to watch her go head-to-head with a challenger from the crowd
➡️ The round includes a quick-fire Skillrow challenge up on stage
Partnering with the challenge round are our mates at Technogym, supplying the rowing machine that'll test who's really got the legs (and lungs) for it.
Aimee's a reminder that you don't need a big city to achieve big things. Her roots are right here in Hawke's Bay, and our facility is where young athletes just like Aimee with big dreams get to train locally.
