Would you like to get over your emotional suffering? Do you have little time to spend on yourself? I

Somewhere along the way, many of us learned that we need to earn our rest 😬

"I'll slow down once this project is finished."
"Things will calm down after this busy period."
"I'll take a break when everyone else is sorted."

Yet somehow, another project arrives, another deadline appears, another person needs our attention… and recovery gets pushed further down the list.

But our nervous system doesn't work that way 🧡

Recovery isn't a reward. It's a requirement.

🔸 It might be a quiet walk without your phone.
🔸 An early night.
🔸 A coffee with a friend who fills your cup.
🔸 Reading a book instead of doomscrolling.
🔸 Saying no without explaining yourself.

It doesn't have to be a three-week holiday.

👉 This weekend, why not schedule one thing into your calendar that is purely for recovery?

Protect it in the same way you would an important meeting.

You may find that investing in your own well-being doesn't take away from what you have to give - it increases it 💛

🤔 When did rest become something we had to earn?

As someone who works with healthcare professionals, leaders and carers, I see this often.

The people who are the most compassionate towards others are frequently the least compassionate towards themselves.

We wear being busy as a badge of honour.
We feel guilty when we rest.
We tell ourselves we'll recharge later.

But just as our muscles need time to recover after exercise, our minds and bodies need regular opportunities to reset.

Without recovery, stress becomes our normal, our patience shortens, our thinking becomes less clear, and we begin operating on empty.

And intentional recovery doesn't have to mean escaping your life.

It might be:
🔸 Sitting in the sunshine for ten minutes
🔸 Taking a quiet walk without your phone
🔸 Saying no without explaining yourself
🔸 Giving yourself permission to do one less thing today
🔸 Spending time with someone who fills your cup

So here's your challenge this week 👇

Schedule one thing into your calendar that is purely for recovery.

Then notice how you feel afterwards.

I'd love to know - what could intentional recovery look like for you this week?

Recovery isn't about escaping your life. It's about creating moments within your life that allow your body and mind to recharge.

And for many of us, that's something we need to become more intentional about 🧡

If you've been thinking about making more time for yourself, or you're feeling like you're operating on empty, this is something we can work on together.

I have a small number of coaching and supervision appointments available, with my September diary also open for when I return from Vietnam.

If you'd like a dedicated space to reflect, reset and think about what you need, book a free 30-minute call with me 💛

You don't have to earn your rest. Your energy deserves protecting.

Be kind online.
Share positive and supportive comments 🧡

A lovely, simple and free way to have an Altruistic August.

Whether it's supporting a local business or someone who needs a caring comment, I challenge everyone to give this one a go.

Here are three more ideas:

1️⃣ Ask someone how they feel and really listen to their reply.
2️⃣ Thank someone you're grateful to and tell them why.
3️⃣ No plans day! Be kind to yourself so you can be kind to others too.

We often think we need more energy.

☕ Another coffee
🏝️ A holiday
💤 A better night's sleep

And sometimes we do.

But often, the biggest gains don't come from adding more energy into our lives.

They come from plugging the small leaks that quietly drain us every day.

Maybe it's:
🔸 Worrying about things you can't control.
🔸 Saying "yes" when your plate is already full.
🔸 Hundreds of tiny decisions before your workday has even begun.
🔸 Constant notifications pulling your attention away.

None of these feel significant on their own.

But together, they can leave you feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted.

One question I often ask clients is:

👉 Where is my energy actually going?

Because once you notice the leaks, you can begin making small, intentional changes that protect your energy instead of constantly trying to create more of it.

➡️ What's one thing that's been quietly draining your energy lately?
