๐ 2026 CHARITY CUP CHAMPIONS โ FEILDING UNITED RESERVES! ๐
A huge congratulations to Feilding United AFC Reserves on being crowned the 2026 Manawatu Charity Cup Champions! โฝ๐
In a tightly contested final, Feilding United Reserves secured a 1-0 victory over Whanganui City to lift the trophy and cap off a fantastic cup campaign.
With very little separating the two sides, the final was a great battle from start to finish, with Feilding doing enough to get over the line and claim the silverware.
Congratulations also to Whanganui City on reaching the final and playing their part in a competitive contest.
A massive well done to all the Feilding United Reserves players, coaches, management and supporters! ๐๐

At Skoglund Park, the ๐.๐.๐๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐๐ซ ๐๐๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐ฏ๐๐ฌ took on Whanganui City 1sts in the Charity Cup final. There was a slight delay to kick-off whilst the nets were found and put up, but it did not affect our boys, as just 5 minutes into the game a ball launched forward saw ๐ฑ๐๐ ๐ต๐๐๐๐๐ get around the outside to cross for ๐บ๐๐ ๐บ๐๐๐๐๐๐ at the back post to slot past the hapless keeper. What followed was an 85 minute slugfest, with both teams going back and forth at each other without much joy. City were threatening from set-pieces, but some big saves from ๐ฉ๐๐ ๐ป๐๐๐๐๐ and plenty of lads putting their bodies on the line to block, saw the game out for a 1 nil victory and the Charity Cup trophy. Jeff, Phil and the team would like to pass on their thanks to the support crew who turned up and cheered them on in cold and windy conditions, in Philโs words โthe 12th man for sureโ.

Over at Ashhurst the ๐๐๐๐จ๐ง๐๐ฅ๐โ๐ฌ ๐
๐๐ข๐ฅ๐๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ took on title chasing North End Vets. The Vets knew a win likely gave them the league, and they got off to the best possible start with a goal after 3 minutes. A second came on 27 minutes with the sides heading into the break at 2 nil to North End. The Vets came out in the 2nd half firing, and sealed the win and the title on 53 minutes, the game finishing 3 nil.

At Timona the ๐๐๐ง๐ง๐ข๐๐ง ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ฌ ๐๐๐ง๐ฌ ๐๐จ๐๐ข๐๐ฅ๐ฌ hosted Dannevirke Rangers. Having beaten Dannevirke over the hill earlier in the year the boys will have fancied their chances of three points at home, however it was not to be, with Dannevirke winning 3 nil. The boys now have one final game next week away to Takaro Benchwarmers.

Also at Timona, the ๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐๐ฐ๐ข๐ฌ ๐๐ซ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐๐ซ๐ฌ signed off for 2026 with a nil nil draw against Marist Shamrock Rovers. Unfortunately not the result needed to leapfrog Marist on the table, but good for the boys to finish off with a point.

In appalling conditions to play football, with the wind making playing away from the river extremely difficult, the ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐๐จโ๐ฌ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ค๐ฒ๐๐ซ๐ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐งโ๐ฌ ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ฌ took on PNU Reserves. In a first half where PNU struggled with the ball running away from them, the 1sts did well to build up some good passages of play, and managed to take the lead on 35 minutes, ๐ท๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐๐๐ finding the ball behind the opposition defence, and lofting it over the keeper. In the second half PNU found their feet, and with their through balls now holding up rather than running away from them, they took advantage to fight back and take the lead. Three quite similar goals saw the game end up 3-1 to PNU. It was extremely challenging conditions for both sides, and they did really well to put on an entertaining contest for those that braved the wind to come and watch.
