नाद शक्ति Nāda Shakti translates to mean 'the Power / Energy of Sound' - and this is your invitation to relax deeply & receive.

For this special Equinox gathering, I’m delighted to welcome Tomuri Spicer (Ngāpuhi) as our guest co-facilitator.

Tomuri is a student, tutor and ethnomusicology teaching fellow at the University of Otago, specialising in taonga pūoro and kapa haka pedagogies and performance techniques.

Tomuri will share the ancient sounds of taonga pūoro, bringing the voice of these beautiful Māori instruments into the ceremony.

Jasmin Amrita is a yoga teacher, somatic & ecstatic dance facilitator and founder of Soma Yoga, weaving embodied practice, breath, and sound to create spaces for connection, presence and transformation. Her work invites people to make space for new ways of being, beyond old patterns, to listen inwardly and to embody their wholeness.

Jasmin will be facilitating and adding sound with Crystal Bowls, shamanic drums & other world instruments.

Together, we’ll create a spacious evening of sound, stillness and resonance as we mark the turning of the season - moving through breath, mantra, gentle embodied practice, deep rest, sound and creative reflection. A space to listen inwardly, to acknowledge what is here, and to allow whatever is ready to shift, settle or emerge.

This is an invitation to step out of the pace of everyday life, acknowledge where you are, and make space for the season ahead.

One of my goals is to teach your body that extreme fight, flight & freeze etc are for life and death - not answering emails.

I used to be a chronic procrastinator. I thought it was because I was lazy...but now I know it's because sometimes my body simply refused to deal with things that, on paper seemed pretty simple or straightforward.

Learning what was happening in my nervous system - and gradually retraining my body to respond differently, both in the moment and over time - has been one of the main keys to facing and moving through some pretty significant challenges over the years.

I’ve developed the ability to meet life as it is, without needing everything to be okay first. I’m also much less ruffled by the same things that used to send me into avoidance. I can do what needs to be done, and keep moving.

And I’ve learned to make more room for joy alongside the hard stuff, because life is just going to keep lifing, isn't it!

And the time for living your best life is now.

It might sound like a low-key change, but for me, this has been a profound shift.

It has changed how I move through my own life - and it’s a massive part of what I now bring into all of my teaching.

Don't know about you but life has been full. on. these last few.....weeks?....months?....years?

That's why we've got to get in amongst the spaces, times and people that help us pause. Places where we can step away from the endless doing and exist in a different way...in the beingness.

Dance Medicine, our community freestyle dance, is one of those spaces. Where our presence is enough.

It's amazing what can happen when we give ourselves permission to be fully here.

Sometimes the medicine is simply being here enough to remember our alivemess is now, and to feel our wholeness is too.

✨ Dance Medicine: Ecstatic Dance Dunedin is held on the first Friday of every month at 7pm.

Come exactly as you are....pop your to-do list to one side....and let's go.

I can't wait to move with you!
THIS FRIDAY people, please book asap ;)
7pm at Soma Yoga 7 Crawford St.
(I'll drop a ticket link in the comments)

Hi, I'm Jasmin, and I'm the teacher of our upcoming Soma Yoga and Soma Healing Journeys.

I love sharing yoga because it changed my life.

After rediscovering my love of yoga in my twenties, I eventually travelled to Canada to train, then to India where I lived, studied and taught full-time. I've now been teaching for over 18 years.

Today my work focuses on nervous system informed yoga for people who are ready to move beyond chronic stress, fatigue and survival mode, and towards being calmer, stronger, more flexible and more at ease in everyday life....or for those who are already fully experiencing those benefits and want to keep it flowing!

Every Yoga Journey at Soma Yoga is designed to be welcoming, supportive and accessible. Whether you're completely new to yoga or looking to deepen an existing practice, you'll experience movement, breathing, postures & sequences that can be adapted to be easier, and/or deepened for you and wherever you're at.

In my sessions, it's never about pushing or performing. It's about being in a space, with good, chill vibes and guidance for a practice that you can drop into, that feels good, sustainable and supportive - and after which you feel the yoga glow ✨ 😉 ✨

Our next Soma Journeys begin soon (from 23 July), and if you're new or returning, I'd love to welcome you!
