A weekend of bowls for the Kaikorai members in a couple of competitions.
First off, Nigel Birkbeck and Jonty Horwell were up in Hastings competing in the Champ of Champ menโs pairs. Unfortunately the lads were unlucky and didnโt manage to qualify. A very good effort making it to the competition though!
PBA:
Kaikorai had a number of participants competing, where we have three quarter finalists set to play at 8:30am tomorrow morning!
Cailan Thompson started an impressive run beating Methvenโs Jeff Nowell in a thrilling tie breaker before dispatching Wakariโs Tane Loper. He will now face Kylie Johnson of Brighton tomorrow!
Jacob Potiki-Tagg won in straight sets against Brightons John Knapp, where he then had a nail biter of a tie breaker win against stadiums Paul King. He is now faced with playing Stadium counterpart and ex club man Joko Susilo, who earlier knocked newer club member Nigel Thompson out of competition.
Cameron McKean had a default in his first round where he then went into a tiebreaker win against Graeme Jeffrey of Omakau/Stadium. He will now face St Clairโs Marty Kreft.
Nigel Thompson and Russell Dawe registered a win in their first rounds but couldnโt quite get over the line in their next matches. Really good effort lads!
Johnnie Potiki featured in a first round match up against clubman Russell Dawe, sending it to a tiebreak but falling just short!
A really good showing over the week for Kaikorai members and still more to come! Can another Kaikorai member cement themselves into PBA finals weekend? Maybe! Come find out with quarters kicking off at 8:30am. Go KBC!!๐ค๐
GEOFF DOES IT AGAIN!
Geoff Wilson has successfully beaten St Clairโs Marty Kreft in the final of the PBA Scottish singles.
Being a returning player and winning two of the three events is no easy feat. Congratulations Geoff, a force to be reckoned with for the final PBA event due in August.
PBA Weekend:
Kaikorai had a number of participants for the PBA Scottish singles this weekend.
Kane Matheson, Jacob Potiki-Tagg, Carol Dick and Cailan Thompson all unfortunately went down in their first round matches.
Russell Dawe advanced to the next round but lost out in a closely contested tie-breaker ending his run.
However, Kaikorai has two standing participants into the quarter finals. Geoff Wilson will play Jeff Nowell and Cameron McKean is set to play Jason Wheal.
All happening with an 8:30am kick off. Can Geoff go back to back or can Cameron go all the way?, come and find out!

Jacob Potiki-Tagg living it up in the Australian open!
Jacob has done himself and club proud over in Australia, within the U18 boys competition.
Jacob qualified for post-section, being second packed in his section with 2 wins and a +31 differential.
Jacob was faced with the only fellow kiwi in the round of 16, Harry Hamlyn, where unfortunately it wasnโt Jacobโs day.
Still an incredible feat in a very strong field. Well done Jacob!
