Very proud of the U12's who took on some of NZ's biggest clubs and football academies this week at the Christchurch International Cup and showed them what teamwork and effort can achieve.
20 teams in the comp and they made the quarter-finals (agonizingly close to the semi's) before ending up a very impressive 6th overall. The last game against a representative team from Northland in the playoff for 5th was a very close 2-1 loss.
Their defense and grit meant that they didn't lose a game by more than 1 goal and they fought to the final whistle every time. A result and effort for the boys and parents to be very proud of, I know the coach is!
A big thanks to the club for its support, to Murray, Victoria, Kelda and Mark for their support in the build up and throughout the tournament. The tournament was played in great spirit and in beautiful weather. A big thanks to Christchurch International Cup for their organisation.
As always with tournaments, the team bonding and experience is the best outcome of all. Great to be able to give these young players this experience together.

Another hard fought 2-0 win over the Ricky Herbert Academy this morning and we’re into the playoff for 5th this afternoon against Northland FC.
The boys displayed a lot of hunger for the ball and had many good attacks in a tense match.
Another great morning and we’re looking forward to finishing strong.

A very physical and tense game in the quarterfinal ending in a 2-1 loss to Ole Academy.
We peppered the goal with shots in the second half and any one of them could have sent it to penalties.
The boys never gave up or got their heads down.
A comment from the other sides parents was "your boys were so kind to each other and positive" which is great to hear.
Time to regroup and rest for the playoffs for 5th tomorrow! Very proud of this bunch of boys.
