Shukokai Karate stands for "way for all". Our club welcomes members of all abilities and skill levels to learn the traditional art and discipline of Karate.
We are currently running Junior classes on a Tuesday 5.30-6.30 for children aged 5-11 years. Senior or Adult classes currently run on a Sunday from 9am-10.30am. All classes are based at the Wakari School Hall, 150 Helensburgh Road, Wakari, Dunedin.

A successful grading recently for both Seniors and Juniors. For the first grading of the year it was a great turnout and we were really impressed by what we saw. Looking forward to seeing the improvements and gains over the coming months!

Recently I travelled to Auckland to complete my Yondan (4th Dan) grading.
This incredible opportunity included five days of intensive training, learning, and development, allowing me to further build my skills and knowledge alongside high-level instructors and colleagues.
I’m grateful for the experience and look forward to bringing what I’ve learned back to the dojo to share with our students.

Great to see such a good turnout at our Kata competition this week. This was the first time for a number of our students and we were really impressed with everyone's performance. The judges had a hard time with some really close rounds so regardless of the end results you can all be proud! Looking forward to grading next week 🥋

Another successful year comes to an end with some great grading results for both Senior and Junior students. Thank you for your continued support for the dojo and our instructors. Although small, the club has a great feel about it and this wouldn't be possible without you all. Wishing you all a safe and relaxing Christmas and New Year period and look forward to getting started again in the new year for Term 1.

Congratulations to Mohammed Rizwan on a successful grading in Auckland recently where he obtained the grade of Shodan (Black belt 1st Dan). Years of perseverance and dedication to the art has paid off and his continued contribution to the club is much appreciated by us all. A proud moment for Mohammed, his family and our Dojo.
