Following the catastrophic flash flooding in Nepal, so many families have lost loved ones, homes, and livelihoods. Lives have been lost, homes destroyed, and families left grieving following the recent devastation in Nepal. While thousands of kilometres separate us in New Zealand, our hearts remain anchored to our homeland, our families, and our friends. When Nepal hurts, Aotearoa feels it deeply. As a community here in Canterbury, we know the long and difficult road to recovery after a natural disaster, and we know that distance cannot divide us when support is needed most.

Dear Community Members,
With deep sadness and a heavy heart, we have decided to cancel NNZFSC Teej 2026 celebration originally scheduled for Saturday, 12th September 2026 at the Rolleston Community Centre due to the unfortunate and tragic events back home in Nepal.

We understand that this is a very difficult and emotional time for all of us following the recent devastating floods in Nepal which have resulted in tragic loss of lives and severely impacted numerous families.

At this time of profound sadness, celebrating does not feel right. Let us stay together as a community, care for one another and extend our support and solidarity to all those affected by this tragedy. Our hearts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to the families who have lost their loved ones and those still waiting for news of their family members.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused and deeply appreciate your understanding, support and compassion during this difficult time.

For now, our hearts are with Nepal. Stay strong, Nepal. We are with you.

आज मिति २०८३ भदौ १० गते, बुधबार बिहान ८ः४० बजे रुसुवाको भोटेकोशी नदीमा बाढी आइ ठूलो जनधनको क्षति भएको छ।
उक्त बाढीका कारण रसुवा, नुवाकोट, धादिङ र गोरखालगायत जिल्लाका तटीय क्षेत्रहरु प्रभावित बनेका छन्।
बाढी गएलगत्तै सरकारले प्रभावित क्षेत्रमा उद्धार, खोज र राहतका कार्यहरुलाई तीव्रता दिएको छ।
बाढीका कारण पुगेको मानवीय तथा भौतिक क्षतिको विवरण संकलन कार्य जारी छ।
यस् विपद्बाट प्रभावितहरुलाई तत्कालै सुरक्षित स्थानमा व्यवस्थापन गर्नुपर्ने छ भने अर्कोतिर उहाँहरुलाई दीर्घकालिनरुपमा पुनःस्थार्पना गर्न उत्तिकै जरुरी छ।
