A huge congratulations to Jen Insley for being awarded a Life Membership to our club !!
This was last night at our AGM.
Jen first came into the club and onto the committee around the year 2000 while her kids were at Rapaura school!
A big thanks to Mary Doig for recruiting her... a very valuable recruitment indeed!
Jen has pretty much been on the committee ever since apart from a few years living in California and then China. She is hugely committed to the Rapaura club and has shown this with a long stretch as secretary and countless hours volunteering around the place.
In particular organisation around catering at the new years tournament.
She is so valuable off the court and a calming influence on all meetings and decisions.
On the court she under estimates he's abilities... a very capable player who has a great volley and a solid serve!
Always at club day and very willing to play with players new to tennis or new to the club. This has been great to give a great first impression of the Rapaura tennis club!!
Well done Jen!!
But the job isn't finished and you aren't allowed to go anywhere!!

Tennis holiday programme for all kids - every day of the holidays and Term 4 after school group coaching information....
Tomas and I have been busy through the winter terms coaching more than ever so we are really looking forward to the summer back at Rapaura on the grass in the club environment with the amazing atmosphere!
Please message through for information or to book with either the holiday programme or the term 4 coaching programme.
Also adult coaching is something that is definitely growing for us. We have individual and group lessons going on for players of all levels. If you or someone you know is interested in picking up a racquet for the first time or getting back into it we can help provide all sorts of opportunities.

Good stuff from these 5 keen young players who headed down to CHCH for the indoor tournament this week.
Tough competition in the 14s as usual. There were gun players from all over the country.
As a collective they managed as many wins as losses which is very encouraging!
The temperature outside was warmer than inside most of the time!
Also another 16 that train with Rapaura played in the junior winter open at Marlborough tennis club last weekend. For some it was their first big tournament!
Tennis really is a year round sport with the tournaments, events and opportunities out there to progress!!
Please message through if you would like to get involved!!

A very busy June for the club!
Lots of grass growth, mowing and maintenance at Rapaura.
Lots of tennis matchplay and coaching at MGC, St Mary's, Spring Creek and beyond.
But July promises to be even busier with a Walker cup challenge at Renwick Tennis Club, a Wimbledon themed afternoon at Marlborough Tennis Club and a big visit down to CHCH to see the Burwood Park Tennis Club in 3 consecutive weeks.
There are also many Rapaura members involved in veterans tennis through the winter. Including a half dozen going down to the Waimairi vets tournament in mid July.
And not to forget the kids tournaments.
The Marlbororough winter open has 20 plus Rapaura kids entered and 6 of them are down to CHCH straight after for the indoor tournament at Wilding Park.
The French Open and Wimbledon double gets everyone excited to get out on court. Let's just hope the weather plays ball.
Don't want to have to dry the balls in front of the fire every night!
