On Tuesday, 7 June, at 8:25 pm, our Rarangi Surf Life Saving Club Search and Rescue Squad was called into action to assist emergency services after the Ōpaoa River flooded a local campground.

Five of our volunteer squad members responded, searching the campground and safely evacuating nine people by boat after floodwaters entered their caravans.

Thanks to the teamwork between all responding agencies, everyone was brought to safety without incident. We're proud to have played our part in achieving a successful outcome for our community.

Great to get the SAR team out and about today upskilling in the river. Kept warm and looking great with the new kit too. It was like Christmas morning unboxing and trying on all the gear.

On the 21st and 28th of March some of members went down to Picton to work alongside Coastguard Marlborough and the Marlborough Youth Trust for the YES program.
It was a great couple of days with some exceptional youth willing to get fully hands on with the scenarios and searches. Excellent interagency training for our team too.

Event cancelled. Unfortunately, we're canceling Beach Day today 😫 due to limited access and inadequate bathroom facilities. We are gutted!!! Thank you for understanding..

Congratulations to Ben and Lachy who both completed the Intermediate Lifeguard School last weekend. A couple of huge days but awesome learnings and experiences to bring along next season.
