SchoolBridge Notices – Keeping Everyone in the Loop

Kia ora whānau,

You’re going to start seeing more information appearing under Notices in the SchoolBridge app.

We now have access to this area and will be using it as another way to keep our students and whānau up to date with what’s happening at MGC.

For now, I’ll be posting sports notices there – things like registrations, trials, meetings, tournaments and other opportunities. As we get things up and running, you’ll hopefully also start seeing notices from other areas of the College, including cultural activities and other school information.

👉 Students – please get into the habit of checking Notices in your SchoolBridge app.

👉 Parents and caregivers – we’d love you to check Notices regularly too.

Important information will still be shared through our usual channels where appropriate, but our goal is to make SchoolBridge a really useful place for both students and whānau to see what’s coming up and what you need to know.

We’re working hard to improve communication and make information easier to find, so hopefully there are fewer moments of “I didn’t know about that!”

Thanks for your patience while we get everything set up. We’re really looking forward to making communication clearer and easier for everyone.

MGC Rowing kicks off on the first Wednesday of Term 4 - 14 October at 3.45pm at Wairau Rowing Club, 115 Steam Wharf Road, Grovetown.

Come along, meet the crew and give rowing a try. It’s a brilliant way to build fitness and skills, make new friendships and be part of a great MGC team.

No previous rowing experience needed - new and existing rowers are welcome.

Questions? Have a chat with Maisie Shenfield via email or any of our MGC rowers.

Okay Marlborough Girls' College… I need your help!

Saturday 3rd October… I would LOVE to see a huge MGC crew at this year’s Marina 2 Marina event. Grab your friends, choose a distance and make a morning of it.

And before you think “I’m not a runner”… you don’t have to be!

You can WALK, JOG or RUN the 10km or 13km. Do it for a time, do it for the challenge, or just get a group of mates together, walk it, have a laugh and enjoy one of the most beautiful courses we have right on our doorstep.

There are options…

10km Marina 2 Marina - walk or run
13km Snout - walk or run
24km Link - for anyone keen to really challenge themselves!

Youth entry is $40 for the 10km or $45 for the 13km.

Imagine seeing a whole lot of navy and gold out there! Imagine the reels (with stunning backdrops) you could make…

Bring your bestie. Bring your whole friend group. Walk it together. Run it together. Race each other if you want to. You definitely don’t need to be a runner to take part.

Come on MGC… how many of you can we get on that start line? Who’s in?

More information and registration links available here

Register now for this fantastic event. Chose from your preffered option - 24km Link Run, 13km Snout Run or Walk, the 10km Marina 2 Marina Run or Walk or the 2km Kids Dash... for the kids!

Last week, Ms Boyce and Vanessa accompanied 20 students to Motueka to compete in the first-ever Tasman Secondary Schools Pickleball Tournament!

The interest in this event was incredible, and unfortunately numbers were limited, meaning we couldn’t take everyone who was keen to play. It was fantastic to see so many of our students wanting to give a new sport a go.

And what a day our girls had!

🏆 Junior Champions – Chloe & Narua
🏆 Senior Champions – Elizabeth & Emily

Marlborough Girls' College took out both the Junior and Senior competitions!

For many of our students, this was their first real experience of competitive pickleball. The morning gave everyone a chance to warm up, learn the game and develop their skills before getting into plenty of matches during the afternoon.

A brilliant day of giving something new a go, having fun, competing, and representing MGC so well.

Congratulations to all of our players - and especially our first-ever MGC Pickleball Champions!

What an awesome day out for our Marlborough Girls' College Five Alive team at the Queen Charlotte Relay!

Ali Senior, Ruby Senior, Lena Bailey, Natalie Nicholas and Brooklyn Smidt-Robinson took out the Junior Women’s title, completing the five-leg relay in 2:53:08.

Ali got the team underway on Leg 1, followed by Ruby on Leg 2, Lena tackling Leg 3 through to Momorangi, Natalie putting in a strong fourth leg, and Brooklyn bringing it home with a speedy finish.

And there was plenty of team spirit along the way! Ali and Ruby even ran the final leg again to support their mum Kylie’s team, while Lena joined Brooklyn for the final few kilometres to help get her teammate home.

A brilliant day of running, laughs and supporting one another - and a Junior Women’s title to top it all off!

Huge congratulations girls, and a big thank you to Ank for supporting the team and to Spring Creek School for helping with the support bus.

Hopefully we see even more MGC runners taking on the Queen Charlotte Relay in 2027!

Leading from the front!

We spend plenty of time celebrating the sporting achievements of our students, but this one is for two of our talented teachers!

A huge congratulations to Amber Boyce and Emily Stenhouse, who represented Marlborough on the golf course over the weekend and helped their team take out the tournament! 🏆

It’s pretty special for our students to have teachers who don’t just encourage participation and achievement in sport - they’re out there doing it themselves!

Congratulations Ms Boyce and Ms Stenhouse - awesome effort!

A huge congratulations to our incredibly talented Marlborough Girls' College dancers who performed in the MAD Hiphop/Dance showcase today.

The talent, confidence and hard work on display was seriously impressive. So great to see our students up on stage doing what they love.

Well done to everyone involved – loved watching you all!
