What a fantastic write-up in the latest Clutha Leader about David Mackenzie , a former South Otago Aero Club pilot, and his aviation novels. The remarkable wartime heroics of his father, John Noble Mackenzie of Clydevale, whilst flying Spitfires in World War II has formed the basis of three successful novels. It's wonderful to see this important piece of local and family history with ties to the South Otago Aero Club being shared and remembered.

South Otago Aero Club was again able to share the experience of flight. The South Otago High School students first had a effect of controls lesson in the club house and then went and experienced it in the air.

South Otago Aero Club was pleased to be able to enable the Owaka High School students the opportunity to experience the feeling of flight today.
Any one of these students could potentially be a pilot in the future.

It is with great sadness that we share the loss of our much loved and respected friend, club member, and past president Bill O’Connor.
Seeing Bill was a highlight for everyone. When he would turn up, you always knew you were in for a good time
Bill lived for flying, it was his life. His flying experience and advice was second to none.
The South Otago aviation community will never be the same without Bill.
So many stories still to tell, Bill.
Rest in peace.
