Zoe Hobbs is heading to the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games 100m Finals.

Clocking 11.04s in torrential rain to finish second in heat three to secure the big Q. The final is set for 8:40 AM NZT today.

Looking for a reason to get active this spring? Join us for three relaxed social runs around the Clutha District. Whether you're just starting out or training for your next event, everyone is welcome.

๐Ÿ“ Sunday 27 September - Balclutha (Cross Recreation Centre)

These are social group runs, not competitive races, with a focus on getting active, meeting others, and enjoying some great local locations.

โœ” Open to all ages and abilities
โœ” Walk, jog or run at your own pace
โœ” Younger participants must be accompanied by an adult
โœ” Free to take part

The team at Athletics Otago are running a monthly cross country series for kids and teens this winter.

These sessions are designed to help young runners:
โ€ข learn cross country skills
โ€ข gain race confidence
โ€ข understand warm-ups, tactics & recovery
โ€ข prepare for Cross Country Nationals (Christchurch โ€“ 1 August)

Each session includes:
A short, easy run
A practical learning session
Snacks and connection time

โœ… Yesterday wrapped up the 2025/2026 season with Day 2 of the Otago Childrenโ€™s Club Champs.

๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป We had a small team competing on Saturday - Otis & Juno Allan & Charlie Stainton-Herbert - with Freddy, McKenzie and Jonty ticking off Southland Primary Athletics on Saturday and then up to Dunedin to join the team yesterday.

Juno Allan - 12 Girls - 2nd Shot Put : PB of 7.56m
Jonty Stainton-Herbert - 11 Boys - 1st 200m, 55m Hurdles, Long Jump
McKenzie Wallace - 10 Girls - 1st 200m : PB of 30.74, 2nd Discus
Charlie Stainton-Herbert - 9 Boys - 2nd Vortex : PB of 37.2m
Otis Allan - 7 Boys - 2nd Discus : PB of 12.76m

Mini Multis Medals presented - Charlie, McKenzie & Briar McCammon received their mini Multis medals - these were awarded for placings in their age groups across a weekend competition in December.
