🌿 Finding Moments of Rest in a Busy Life!
Life can be busy, and many of us spend so much time caring for others that we forget to care for ourselves.
Over the next few days I'll be sharing a series of simple resting positions that may help calm the nervous system, reduce muscle tension, and encourage deep rest. These gentle practices are suitable for anyone looking to slow down, recharge, and create a little more calm in their day.
You don't need any special equipment or experience—just a few quiet moments to pause, breathe, and allow your body the opportunity to rest.
These positions may help reduce muscle tension, encourage relaxation, and support your body in shifting into a calmer, more restful state.
The most important thing is to choose the position that feels safest and most comfortable for you.
1. Constructive Rest
Lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the floor, about hip-width apart. Rest your arms comfortably by your sides, or place one hand on your chest and the other on your abdomen. Simply notice your breathing as it flows in and out. There's nothing to change or achieve—just gently notice, without judgment.
Why it may help:
This position requires very little muscular effort, allowing your body to relax more fully. It may help reduce unnecessary muscle tension, encourage slower, more comfortable breathing, and support activation of the parasympathetic nervous system—the part of the nervous system involved in rest, recovery, and restoration.
🌸 How a Weighted Eye Pillow May Help
A weighted eye pillow provides gentle, evenly distributed pressure over the eyes and forehead. This light pressure may offer calming sensory input, while the darkness helps reduce visual stimulation, giving the brain fewer sensory signals to process.
Many people also find that it encourages the muscles around the eyes, forehead, and jaw to soften, making it easier to settle into comfortable breathing and a deeper sense of rest.
Although research specifically on weighted eye pillows is still limited, studies on gentle deep-pressure stimulation and reducing sensory input suggest these approaches may help promote relaxation, reduce feelings of stress, and support the body's natural "rest and digest" response.
💛 A Little Extra Support
I also lovingly handmake weighted eye pillows using soft satin, organic buckwheat, and, if you choose, a gentle touch of doTERRA Essential Oils New Zealand. They're designed to be a comforting companion during rest, relaxation, meditation, or quiet moments of self-care.
If you'd like to know more or feel one might support your own rest practice, you're very welcome to send me a message. I'd be happy to chat with you.
As always, listen to your body. If any position causes discomfort, come out of it.
With Love Helèna ❤️

Honouring your body can look different, some days that looks like moving with energy and joy, other days it looks like slowing down, resting, or simply listening a little deeper.
Our bodies are not machines to push—they are wise partners to care for.
Today I choose appreciation. I choose respect. I choose to listen. 💓

As someone who teaches dance fitness, holds space for others, and is on the go… I’ve had to learn that recovery is just as important as movement 💃✨
At the end of the day, my body definitely lets me know when it needs support 😅
Lately I’ve been winding down with this Moodi Mylk Chocolate magnesium blend before bed and honestly… it’s become part of my little nighttime ritual 🤎☕
Warm. Chocolatey. Calming.
A moment to slow my nervous system down after pouring into everyone else all day.
I love anything that supports wellness from the inside out — especially as a woman balancing movement, business, stress, hormones, energy, recovery… all the things 🙃
Sometimes self-care looks less like bubble baths and more like intentionally supporting your body before burnout taps you on the shoulder 😂
Big fan of creating small rituals that actually help you feel good!
