Chris picked up an old Specialized Rockhopper from the Hub and has completely restored it. The result is stunning, especially with those fresh tan-wall tyres giving it that classic look.
What makes it even better is the story behind it. Chris used to own the exact same bike, but sold it years ago and always regretted letting it go. He's been on the hunt for another one ever since, and finally found the perfect replacement.
Safe to say it's found the right home! π²π

We had a memorable visitor stop by the Hub!
Eric is currently cycling the length of Aotearoa, starting in Bluff and making his way all the way to Cape Reinga. When he rolled into the Hub, he was in need of some help, his rear wheel was badly buckled and no longer fit for the journey.
To help keep his adventure rolling, we were able to set him up with a replacement wheel, free of charge.
While we worked on the bike, Eric treated us to an unexpected performance on his handpan. The sound was incredible, and he even let us have a go!
His bike was a journey in itself. Eric had customised it specifically for touring, including a frame bag he'd sewn from an old tent and a toolbox mounted to the rear rack to carry his hammock for wild camping along the way.
It was great hearing stories from the road, swapping trail recommendations and learning about some of his favourite rides around New Zealand. Encounters like this are one of the best parts of what we do at the Hub.
Safe travels, Eric! we hope the new wheel helps carry you all the way to Cape Reinga! π΄ββοΈπ³πΏπ

Congratulations to our local winner Hifza, of the Design Your Dream Bike Competition and a big shout-out to regional winner Jordan, who rode away on a brand new bike! π²π
Jordan had outgrown his old bike, so we were especially pleased to help him get back on two wheels.
The EcoFest Competition challenged tamariki to create the most creative, wild and delightful bike designs imaginable. Prize winners received a fun pack of bike goodies including handlebar streamers, glow-in-the-dark tyre valve caps, a flying pig handlebar decoration, a bell and a puncture repair kit.
Thanks to everyone who entered and shared their amazing ideas!
