I don’t believe young people have lost the love for the game.

I believe we need to give them more opportunities to fall in love with it.

THEY WILL COME.

Kids still want rugby.
They still want to learn.
They still want to compete.
They still want to belong to something.

We just have to PROVIDE IT.

11 WEEKS OF PREPARATION… FOR ONE DAY. 🔥

Today our troopers stepped onto the competition floor at the College Youth Games and absolutely emptied the tank. 🙌🏾

Every early morning.
Every hard session.
Every sore body.
Every moment they wanted to stop but kept pushing…

It all came down to today.

And man… THEY THREW IT DOWN. 😤🔥

Every WOD. Every rep. Every station. These super athletes gave 110% effort and represented with pride.

We honestly can’t put into words how proud we are.

Because today they weren’t only representing themselves…

They represented the whole IRON UP AIGA. 🖤❤️

They represented their own aiga waiting and cheering on the sidelines.
They represented every person who helped them through these last 11 weeks.

But what made us most proud wasn’t just the performance…

It was the way they backed each other.
The way they stayed together.
The way they encouraged each other when things got hard.
The hugs. The huddles. The laughs. The pain. The support.

That’s aiga. That’s culture. That’s IRON UP. 🫱🏾‍🫲🏽

To our athletes, hold your heads HIGH.

You were brave enough to step onto that floor, attack every challenge and give everything you had.

Proud is honestly an understatement. 🥹🙌🏾

A lot of kids don’t need more “speed drills”…

They need someone to actually teach them WHY they’re doing it.

We teach kid's that speed you find when your parents are chasing you when you're in trouble 🤣.

So we broke the speed session right down from the ground up.

First thing we attacked was the 2-point stance.

Not just “stand there and run.”

Nah.

We taught them the L-shape position so they know how to set their body up properly before they even take off.

Then we worked on loading the legs.

Think of it like a spring.
If the spring isn’t loaded, there’s no pop.

A lot of young athletes bend from the hips and not knees.

That’s not loading...
That’s just bowing down to the grass 🤣

We teach them how to bend through the knees, load the legs, and explode out with intent.

Then we attacked the first 3 steps.

Because in:

Rugby 🏉
Netball 🏐
Basketball 🏀
Flag football 🏈
And most field sports…

Those first 3 steps can be the difference between winning space or chasing someone else’s shadow.

And finally…

ARMS.

CHEEK 2 CHEEK.

Face cheek to back cheek.

Don’t overthink it 🤣

Strong arms.
Strong intent.
Strong acceleration.

Then we put it all together with effort-based acceleration sprints.

Now remember…

These kids aren’t track athletes.

And we don’t train them like they’re trying to qualify for the Olympics.

We train field sport athletes.

Kids who need to

Get off the mark
Beat defenders
Close space
Win the ball
Create separation
And move with purpose.

That means we give them the gems we’ve found over 12+ years of coaching.

The money-making drills that actually transfer 🏦

No filler drills.

No fancy “Instagram coach” stuff just to look good on camera.

Just simple, sharp, repeatable coaching that helps young athletes move better, understand better, and get faster.

Speed is a skill.

And when kids understand the WHY…

They don’t just run.

They buy in.
They compete.
They move different.

Building athletes who know what they’re doing…

Not just copying drills.
