A huge thank you to everyone who helped make our East Auckland Schools Gymnastics Festival such a fantastic success over the past two weeks!
It has been wonderful to see so many talented students take to the floor across both our Rhythmic and Artistic Gymnastics festivals with Year 3-8 performing. The enthusiasm, determination, and sportsmanship on display made both events incredibly special.
A heartfelt thank you to all of the schools, teachers, parents, supporters, and our amazing judges. Your time, encouragement, and commitment made these events possible and created such a positive experience for every gymnast involved.
We are so proud to be able to bring together schools from across East Auckland to celebrate gymnastics and provide students with the opportunity to perform, challenge themselves, and have fun.
Thank you to everyone who played a part—we can't wait to do it all again in a few weeks time for the HPPA Festival!

🚀 Introducing Our New Tumbling Pathway!
We're excited to be launching a new skill-based tumbling pathway from Term 3!
To help every gymnast reach their full potential, our tumbling classes will now be streamed according to ability level rather than simply by age. Training with gymnasts of a similar skill level allows our coaches to provide more targeted coaching, helping athletes learn safely, build confidence, and progress faster.
🤸 Beginner Tumbling
Perfect for gymnasts who are new to tumbling or developing their foundation skills. Athletes will learn body shapes, strength, coordination, safe landings, rolls, handstands, cartwheels, rebounding, and body tension while using the floor, tumble track, and trampoline. The focus is on building strong fundamentals in a fun and supportive environment.
🤸🤸 Intermediate Tumbling
For gymnasts who have mastered the beginner foundations and are ready to build more power and technique. Athletes will refine handstands and cartwheels, begin learning round-offs, and develop the progressions needed for back handsprings and saltos. Classes focus on strength, rebound, body control, and connecting skills using the floor, tumble track, and trampoline.
🤸🤸🤸 Developing Tumbling
For gymnasts ready to perform more advanced tumbling combinations. Athletes will work towards skills such as round-off back handsprings, front salto progressions, back saltos, and advanced tumbling passes while developing power, technique, and performance quality. Training includes the floor, tumble track, mini trampoline, and trampoline.
⭐ This class also provides a pathway into our Invitational Tumbling Squad. Gymnasts who demonstrate strong ability, commitment, and a positive attitude may be invited to join our Invitational programme, with further opportunities to progress into our Competitive Tumbling Programme.
📲 You can find your child's current progression level in Friendly Manager under Awards → Tumbling.
❓Not sure which class is right for your child? We'd be happy to complete a tumbling assessment to ensure they are placed in the most suitable level.
We're excited to offer a clearer development pathway that supports every tumbler, from learning their first forward roll right through to preparing for competitive tumbling. We can't wait to see our athletes grow and achieve their goals in Term 3!

What a fantastic weekend of Parkour at Howick Gymnastic Club! 🔥
A huge congratulations to everyone who took part in our Parkour Competition. Athletes put their skills to the test across three exciting events – Speed, Skills Challenge, and Freestyle – showcasing their speed, creativity, precision, and determination. It was incredible to see so many athletes challenging themselves and supporting one another throughout the day.
Before the competition, we were also pleased to host a Coaches and Managers Workshop, bringing together coaches from across the Auckland and Midlands regions to share ideas about growing parkour in our communities and how to successfully deliver parkour events. It was a valuable opportunity to collaborate, learn from one another, and continue building the future of parkour in New Zealand.
A special thank you to Ty from Gymnastics New Zealand and Stephen our Parkour judge, for giving up their time to support the event. Your expertise and encouragement helped make the competition and workshop such a success.
