Sunday Plan & Prep πŸ“‹ and it's the last week of school holidays over here!

One more week of juggling Miss 5 and daycare drop offs and all the holiday activities β€” and then we are back to routine πŸŽ‰πŸ˜…

And I want to be really honest with you about something.

Last week was full on. Like properly, genuinely full on - studio, business, kids, all of it at maximum. And I didn't get all my workouts in exactly as planned.

So this week I'm doing something really intentional.

I'm scheduling my movement AND my self care like non-negotiables. Both. Because after a big week, I know I need both to feel like myself again.

This week looks like...
πŸ’ͺ 3 strength sessions - because nothing makes me feel more energised and confident than when I lift strong
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ 3 runs - building that half marathon foundation
🧘 2 Pilates sessions - because my body is asking for it
🌿 Quiet self care time - actually scheduled in, not an afterthought

And this week on my page we're talking all about confidence and energy. What gives it. What drains it. And how strength training, sleep and food are all connected to how you feel every single day.

Because I genuinely believe that when a woman feels energised and confident in her body - everything else shifts. How she shows up at work. How she shows up for her kids. How she shows up for herself. That's what we're building this week πŸ’ͺ

Happy Friday Wins, gorgeousπŸ…βœ¨

And this week has been such a good example of exactly what we've been talking about... consistency over perfection.

Here's mine...
πŸ’ͺ Three strength sessions done - even through the school holidays, even with Miss 5 home, even with a week that felt full in every possible way.

πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ Two runs completed (while breaking in the new running shoes πŸ‘Ÿ) - and I can genuinely feel the difference in my running form when my strength work is on point. Less aching. More power. My body working with me instead of against it.

🌿 One Pilates session with my beautiful ladies in the studio - moving together, building strength, improving balance and leaving feeling taller, stronger and more mobile.

🧠 Got through a full, emotionally demanding holiday week and still felt like myself at the end of it (and with everyone still alive - got to love school holidays 🀣).

THAT last one... that's the win I'm most proud of.

Because that's strength for life. Not just what I can do in the gym, but what I can do in my everyday life because my body and mind is strong enough to support me - even when life is chaotic πŸ˜‰

✨ And today being Matariki feels like the perfect reminder to pause, reflect and look ahead. If you've got a little extra time today, it's a beautiful sunny day to head out for a walk, fit in a workout, or simply get outside and move your body.

Now it's YOUR turn...

What's your win this week? Fitness or not. Big or tiny. Something you did even when you didn't feel like it. Something that felt different from before.

Drop it below and let's celebrate it properly πŸ‘‡

This week has been a full one. School holidays, lots going on in the studio and in the business - and honestly? My own workouts have taken a bit hit & miss this week.

And I could easily say "I'll restart next week." "I'll reset on Monday." "Once the holidays settle down I'll get back into it."

But that's not what I'm doing today 😊

Because one of the things I talk about ALL the time is this - you don't wait for the perfect moment. You just start again. Right here. Today. Even if it's not the full session. Even if it's not the perfect week. You just show up for yourself again.

So today I'm prioritising ME.

I'm pulling out my mat and doing my Pilates workout - if you're in our BFITU Squad FB group you would have seen me share this one on Tuesday (I'll pop the link to this free group in comments below) - and I'm using it to warm up my pelvic floor and core, activate those deep muscles properly, and then I'm taking myself out for a 5km run.

Pelvic floor switched on βœ…
Core activated βœ…
Body properly warmed up and ready βœ…
5km run - let's go πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ

This is what not waiting for next week looks like. It's not glamorous. It's not a perfect training block. It's just choosing yourself today instead of putting it off until conditions are ideal.

Conditions will never be ideal. But today? Today is right here.

Are you prioritising yourself today - even in a small way? Tell me below πŸ‘‡

Okay I want to get a little bit into the science today... but I promise I'm keeping it simple and real 😊

Because I think when women actually understand WHY strength training matters so much - especially for women over the age of 30 - everything changes.

So here's what's actually happening in your body, and why it matters for how you feel every single day.

πŸ”₯ Your metabolism
After 30 we naturally start losing muscle mass - and muscle is metabolically active. That means it burns calories just by existing. When we lose muscle and don't replace it, our metabolism slows. We feel like we're doing all the things and nothing is working. Sound familiar?

But when you build ACTIVE muscle through strength training... Your metabolism gets a genuine, lasting boost. Your body burns more energy even at rest - while you're driving, sitting on the couch, at your desk, cooking dinner, even laying in bed reading your book. That's not a gimmick - that's physiology.

🦴 Your bone density
This one doesn't get talked about enough. From our 30s onward, bone density starts to decline - and for women this accelerates significantly around menopause. Strength training is one of the most powerful things we can do to slow that process and protect our bones for the long term.

πŸ’ͺ Functional strength - the kind that shows up in real life
This is my favourite one. Functional strength means your body can do what real life demands of it. Carry the shopping. Lift the kids. Run without your knees aching. Get up off the floor. Sit at a desk all day and not feel wrecked. Climb stairs without thinking about it.

THIS IS THE STRENGTH THAT MATTERS.

✨ And the bonus is when we put this into action, the confidence shift - WOW!
There is something beautiful that happens when a woman lifts something heavy and realises she can. It's quiet. It's profound. And it carries into everything else. How she walks into a room. How she talks about herself. What she believes she's capable of.

That's not just fitness. That's transformation.

This is all on the podcast that will go live later today too - go grab it on Spotify πŸŽ™οΈ Search Move Nourish Thrive.

Tuesday Movement πŸ’ͺ and I want to share something that's been a bit of a game changer for me lately.

I've been really focused on using my strength training to improve my running. And not in the way most people think.

Because most runners think more running = better running. And yes, the kilometres matter. But here's what I've discovered over the years - when your body is stronger, your running changes completely.

Less aches in the knees. Better posture when you're tired. More power in each stride. Less of that "my body is fighting me" feeling at kilometre 15.

Right now I'm building toward my third half marathon in November and I'm approaching my training differently this time. Strength sessions that target the muscles that support my running - core, glutes, hips, back - so that when I'm out on the road, everything is working together instead of fighting each other.

And here's the thing - this isn't just a 'runner' thing.

Whether you run, walk, do Pilates, chase toddlers, carry groceries, sit at a desk all day - the same principle applies. When your body is stronger, everything feels easier. More comfortable. More capable.

That's strength for life in action.

This week with Miss 5 home for the holidays I'm fitting my runs and sessions in around our mummy daughter time. Some early, some while she is doing some learning activities, some with her cheering me on from the sidelines, some with her joining in πŸ˜„

Movement doesn't stop for the holidays. It just gets a little more creative πŸ’ͺ

How are you keeping your body moving this week? Tell me below πŸ‘‡

Monday Mindset 🧠 and this week I want to talk about something that I think changes everything when you really hear it.

Strength training is not about the gym.

It's not about before and after photos. It's not about lifting the heaviest weight in the room. It's not about looking a certain way or fitting into a certain size.

It's about feeling capable. Confident. Strong in real life. YOUR real life.

And this week - with Miss 5 home for the holidays and the week already looking full on - I am feeling this more than ever.

Because here's what strength training has given me that no cardio programme or diet plan ever could...
πŸ’ͺ I can carry my 22 month old - all 14kg of her, fast asleep, from the car to her bed - without my back giving out or arms giving it on me. That's strength for life.
πŸƒβ€β™€οΈ I can run without my knees aching, my body fighting me every step, or any embarrassing leakage. That's strength for life.
⚑ I can get through a big, full-on school holiday week with two small kids and still have energy left at the end of the day. That's strength for life.
🧠 I can handle the mental and emotional load of a busy week, running a business, being a mum, without completely falling apart - because my body is strong enough to support my nervous system. That's strength for life.

This is what we build inside BeneFit You. Not a gym body. A real life body.

A body that feels capable and confident and strong enough to actually show up for everything that matters to you.

And that - for me - is worth every single training session. Even the hard ones. Even the holiday ones. Especially those ones.

What would strength for life look like for YOU? Tell me below - I genuinely want to know πŸ‘‡
