🗣️ This week we're shouting out Georgia kendelle Dance who have been using the studios recently as part of their prep for an upcoming showcase!

With a focus on people who danced when they were younger and want to rediscover that passion, their goal is to give dancers a place to build on the skills they already have, reconnect with dance, and enjoy being part of a supportive community.

They currently offer a competition team, as well as lyrical, latin, dancers technique, and burlesque classes. And coming up this September is the Rewind the Rhythm showcase - featuring their talented students and special guest performers, this energetic production brings together an exciting mix of Cabaret, Latin, Burlesque, Lyrical, and more.

Rei Music has been in the whare recently preparing for some incredible up and coming performances!

Were thrilled to be Shouting Out the incredible Lemon Time Studios - an incredible youth-led film collective who have been rehearsing in Kete Aronui recently for a music video shoot!

Lemon Time Studios is a community-focused film initiative that brings unique stories to the screen and nurtures creative talent in Aotearoa.

Founded by and for rangatahi, they began in a very hands-on, learn-as-you-go way. With no formal film training, no industry connections, and very limited experience with cameras, sound, or production, they simply started making short films ourselves.

Shout Out to the Wonderful Footsteps Dance Company , one of our many inspiring groups that rehearse in Kete Aronui.

Footsteps take Dance and Drama programs out to school kids across NZ and Australia. These programs develop active, creative, risk takers- just want we want for our growing Tamariki!!

We're hustling our little play together on an absolute shoestring budget, and rehearsing after our cast and crews mahi so needed something that was open later into the eve! Kete Aronui has been a life saver for making sure we have a creative space to play in that can accommodate us around our wildly varying schedules."

Enda Walsh's Irish cult classic Disco Pigs follows the characters Pig and Runt, who have been inseparable since birth. Born on the same day, they consider themselves two halves of the same whole. They speak in their own language, play by their own rules, and create a world for themselves in which boundaries blur between truth and illusion.

Until, on their seventeenth birthday, they discover something more. One wild, violent and chaotic night forces Pig and Runt to reckon with the world and their individual selves.

Originally performed by Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh in 1996, this timeless play continues to resonate. Spoken entirely in cork-Irish dialect, it explores coming of age, toxic friendships, alienation and animal nature.

An Amateur production of Disco Pigs by special arrangement with Concord Theatricals and The Play Bureau. Directed by Shay McKendrick and starring Vena-Rose Lennane and Te Ohorere Williams.
