Inspired by some seriously fit ladies who ride their bikes to walking tracks before heading off on a hike, I decided to give it a go—using my e-bike to get me to the start of the Mt Dumblane Track.
Today I only made it part way along the trail but it was absolutely worth it for the incredible views. Every step is progress, and I’ll be back to go a little further.
A pretty special way to celebrate reaching 5,000 Facebook followers. Thanks for following along on this recovery journey. 💚🚴♀️🥾🏔️

Not as icy this morning, still a few frozen puddles around. ❄️
Enjoyed a 28km eBike ride from Hanmer Springs on the Jacks and Jollies Loop. Feeling like I can finally handle the weight of the ebike again, which is a great milestone in my recovery.
My doctor is keen for me to use the eBike to help rebuild strength, especially on the hills.
One of the best things about living in Hanmer Springs is being able to leave home and within minutes be surrounded by nature, mountain views, and alpine wilderness. 🚴♀️🏔️
Loved every minute

A winters afternoon on the Mt Isobel Track, with frost still clinging to the ground after a chilly -7°C start to the day.
Made it to the 4th bench seat today. The doctor has me focusing on uphill and downhill walking to rebuild strength, so every step counts.
Cold, but worth it. ❄️💪🥾

Love it when your doctor starts recommending trails to ride! 🚴♀️
A big part of rebuilding my fitness is learning to manage the pain. My brain is still in protective mode, sending pain signals to my pelvis, alongside the usual aches and stiffness that come with doing more.
Doctors advice: keep moving and carefully push past the pain.
150 days and counting. 💪🚴♀️

Stoked to have been asked by Ngā Haerenga Great Rides of New Zealand to share some of my winter riding tips for NZ Cycle Trails
My tips have just been published in The Great Rider newsletter. Always a privilege to contribute and help inspire more people to get out and ride through winter. 🚴♀️❄️

Lael Wilcox must be one focused person as she sets off for her next record attempt of biking around the world.
In 2024, she became the fastest woman ever to cycle around the world. We missed her in Auckland, NZ but had her pass us on the West Coast, USA. Hubby rode at her pace for a short time but I couldn’t keep up! She was so fast!
On June 7, Wilcox will roll out from Buckingham Fountain in Chicago at 4:00 a.m., embarking on a 29,000 km journey across four continents.🌍🚴
For the first time in her ultra-racing career, she'll have full support and will ride a cutting-edge Specialized S-Works Roubaix with a SRAM RED AXS drivetrain.
Can she achieve the impossible and cut nearly 30 days off her 2024 time to be the fastest person ever?
