Rocky Nook was well represented in this year's Winter Coaching Canoe and Campi tournament over the weekend.

The team Wayne Wood was in came third in Canoe (Men's) Trophy -maybe best result RNB have had in Y1-5s.
Jim Lawn’s team won the consolation division (meaning after yesterday's result they didn't qualify for top 8, effectively finishing 9th of 32 teams.

Morgan McConnell, who just missed out on top 8 playoffs had 3 wins on Sunday, meaning 6 wins out of 8 without reward, very unlucky.
Lance Scott skipped a very inexperienced 4 and led them to 4 wins and a draw over the two days which is fantastic result.

In the Campi (Women's) Cup, new member Melissa Stewart finished 7th in a team also featuring past member Teresa Cowie, which is a great effort. And the team that Paula Polkinghorne subbed in on for Saturday's play won 3 from 4 games to finish just behind them in 8th (of 32).

Whakamihi to all our representatives, Team Kotare's competitiveness is strong going into the new season!

Only one photo (will be more in this week's Friday Flash I'm sure) but thanks to Richard Fuller for the breakdown.

Rocky Nook Bowls - Standard bookings 14/08/2026

Rocky Nook Bowls group bookings for the 2026-27 season are now open.

Alongside the Auckland Irish Club we can't wait to once again host groups on our greens from October 3rd to the end of April 30th and will be delighted to arrange bowling activities for your work group, stag do or social get-together and will provide all the necessary equipment and club stewards- even coaching!

We pride ourselves on our personalised bowls experience for large and small groups, offering Bowls 101 coaching on the day, all bowls equipment as well as providing all the information you need to run a social tournament should you desire. We even have a DJ station connected to our greens PA!

And should you choose to bowl into the twilight our festoon-lit green is still the first only one in Aotearoa.

Did we mention it's still only $20 per person!

Plenty of parking and only 5min walk from Morningside station and entertainment precinct.

After a decade of hosting amazing occasions on our greens you should find all the information you need on our website to plan and book a great social event. And our mates at the Auckland Irish Club are ready to make sure your food & beverage requirements are catered for- including Guinness on tap, naturally- so that you can sit back and enjoy the adulation of your team or clients.
