TEAM OF THE WEEK: THE ELECTRAS!

Newly formed teams usually take a while to hit their stride... but that wasn't the case for our specially formed U8 girls Fun Football team, the Electras, last weekend!

Coming together for a morning of games up at Stanmore Bay, the Electras were undefeated, with a draw and two convincing wins against Hibiscus Coast and Warkworth.

Their teamwork, passing, defending and support for each other earned them three nominations for Team of the Week – a fantastic achievement for a squad playing together for the very first time!

Jadyn Dixon Real Estate was joined by colleagues Anil and Glenn from Ray White - Carpenter Realty at our photo night for a seriously impressive sausage sizzle!

They supplied, cooked and served the sausages — and when they ran out, they headed to the dairy for more. In the end, they cooked up and gave away more than 400 sausages for our players.

This comes hot on the heels of Anil and Glenn helping out in the GFC kitchen on Saturday, selling club merch.

The GFC kitchen has been a fantastic addition to Saturday mornings at Wainoni this season — and it simply wouldn’t happen without our amazing volunteers!
From drinks and snacks to GFC hoodies, beanies, socks and discounted club gear, there’s been plenty happening behind the counter.
This Saturday, we also had a special crew helping out, with our sponsors from Ray White swapping selling houses for selling GFC hoodies!
It was brilliant to have our sponsors join our parents and players in volunteering and helping make GFC such a great place to be.

A huge congratulations to the Grade 5 Avengers, our latest Team of the Week!

Their goal on Saturday was simple – pass the ball, support each other and, importantly, try not to tackle their own players... They absolutely nailed it, setting up goals, cheering each other on and helping teammates back up when they took a tumble.

A big shout-out to Coach Geoff and Manager Emma, who are doing a wonderful job helping this First Kicks squad learn, develop and have fun.

THUMBS UP TO THE HARRIS FAMILY!

Our latest The Malt Greenhithe Thumbs Up Award goes to Freddie, Mel and Carl Harris, who generously gave up a day to assemble two of our brand new Forza goals.

What arrived from Europe as a mountain of boxes and some less-than-straightforward instructions has been transformed into a fantastic new pair of 4 x 2 goals, complete with the hefty counterweights needed to keep them safely in place.

Not only do we have great new goals ready for action, but we've also reclaimed a good chunk of space in the club pavilion!

A huge thank you to the Harris family for taking on such a big behind-the-scenes job.

And... thanks to the generous support of New Zealand Community Trust (NZCT), we've still got a second pair of goals ready to assemble. If you fancy taking on the challenge, we'd love to hear from you!

A different kind of football skill was on the agenda this week!

It was fantastic to see so many of our coaches, managers, senior players and parent volunteers come along to our First Aid seminar on Tuesday.

A huge thanks to Ryan from Safety 'n Action for an engaging and practical session that gave everyone more confidence to respond if there's an injury on the pitch.

We're also incredibly grateful to Rano Community Trust for funding the seminar, and to Greenhithe Primary School for kindly providing their hall for the evening.

Support like this helps make Greenhithe Football Club an even safer place for everyone.
