The finals will be played tomorrow Saturday 15 August, leading the 9:30am Men’s Roll-Up field.

The Senior and Intermediate finals will form the first group from Hole 1, followed by the Junior and C-Grade finals in the second group.

❄️ We were happy to see the back of last week’s frosty mornings!

Frost delays are pretty rare this close to the water, but when they do happen, they’re important. Walking or driving over frozen turf can damage the grass and leave lasting black marks, so a short delay helps protect the course for everyone.

We’re welcoming 140 North Harbour Vets to the course today, so there’s plenty of golf being played and plenty of action around the club.

A BIG UPGRADE IS COMING!

After years of discussion, our deck extension and new louvre roof system are close to becoming a reality.

The project will extend and resurface the existing deck, creating around 64 additional covered seats overlooking the estuary. With roll-down sides for protection from the sun, wind and rain, it will become a comfortable space for our members and community to enjoy all year round.

Approvals for the deck are in place, and we are awaiting final engineering approval for the louvre system. Subject to that approval, work is expected to begin in early September—just in time to prepare for another busy Omaha summer.

⛳ TIP TUESDAY – SPEED STOPS THREE-PUTTS

Good putting starts with good speed.

You might misread the line, but if your putt finishes well short or races past the hole, the line won’t matter much. Controlling your distance is the biggest factor in reducing three-putts.

Before your round, hit 10 putts from around 15 feet. Putt from the same distance both uphill and downhill, focusing on finishing each ball close to the hole. This will help you adjust to the speed of the greens and build a consistent feel before heading onto the course.

Don’t overlook the putting green—a few minutes before your round can save several shots on the course.

And did you know our putting green is within the Club’s licensed area? A friendly putting competition with your mates and a responsibly enjoyed beer is a pretty good way to finish the round! 🍺

🌱 Hole 3 Progress Update 🌱

What a difference a few months can make!

Work began on our exciting Hole 3 development in mid-March, and the new playing surfaces have now received their first mow. The grass is establishing well, particularly considering the winter conditions, and the transformation is really starting to take shape.

This new section is only one part of the wider project. Further shaping and mounding will be completed through the existing third hole to improve the alignment from the tee and connect everything into the finished par-five layout.

There is still plenty of growing and development ahead, and we won’t rush the opening. With the amount of golf played at Omaha, the turf must be strong enough to handle the traffic from day one.

The project is progressing well, remains within budget, and planning for Stage Two is now underway. A huge thank you to the Friends of Omaha Beach Golf Club, our generous donors and everyone helping bring this development to life.
