Mad Capybaras Airsoft

Airsoft is a recreational and sporting activity based around scenarios and objectives, where participants use airsoft replicas that shoot small biodegradable BBs. There are different styles of play designed for different audiences. Military Simulation (MilSim) focuses on teamwork, communication, planning, and the adaptation of military tactics to a safe and sporting environment. In addition to providing a dynamic and strategic challenge, it encourages outdoor physical activity, problem-solving under pressure, and the development of leadership and cooperation skills.

MAD CAPYBARAS presents its Second Introduction to Military Simulation (MilSim) Training Day, an event designed for those who would like to discover this style of gameplay, as well as for players experienced in other forms of airsoft who want to learn the fundamentals of MilSim.

Throughout the day, participants will learn the basics of team organization, communications, tactical movement, safety procedures, patrolling techniques, reactions to enemy contact, and player coordination. A PDF guide will be provided, and all topics will be explained and practiced progressively before being applied in exercises and scenarios tailored to the participants' skill levels.

Time: 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

This event is open to participants aged 18 and over, with or without previous airsoft experience.

Costs:
• Field fee: $30
• Airsoft replica rental: $30

Rental includes an airsoft replica, eye protection, and sufficient ammunition for the day.

No personal equipment is required. Participants who own their own airsoft replica may use it provided its muzzle energy does not exceed 1.8 joules.

Calypso Ablaze

Almost there...

We're almost there... 🎉

It's looking like we'll be doing a full announcement later this week but as part of the migration, Airsoft Trader will be set to read-only and no new listings will be supported when this occurs.

You won't lose access to anything there for now, but we will be migrating everything over to the new service which will include a web app, and mobile apps.

You'll be able to claim the same account details (email, display name, feedback history, etc).

To confirm though;
Our iOS app has gone through review and has been approved today (after a bit of back and forth 😁).

Android release is a little more complex as you need at least 12 independent testers for weeks before they'll review. So, we'll likely need to collect interest in the android access and send you invite linked to the closed testing. Once that's been two weeks we can then submit that for Google review.

Operation Haystack was another great chapter in the Calypso Ablaze campaign.

One of the highlights of the day was welcoming five new players. Some had never played airsoft before, while others came from different styles of gameplay. It was great to see all of them quickly embracing the challenges of MilSim, enjoying the outdoors, working as a team, and sharing the camaraderie that makes this hobby so rewarding.

A big thank you to everyone who attended and helped create a friendly and supportive environment for both new and experienced players alike. A special mention to Luke Yu from KSM for putting his leadership skills at work.

The Calypso Ablaze campaign continues, and the next mission is already on the horizon. Stay tuned for the next chapter.

Today we gather to bid farewell to a legend. Not the kind of legend who changes the world, writes books, or conquers nations. Fernando chose a different path: dedicating his life, with unwavering commitment, to eating, sleeping, and staying completely uninvolved in absolutely everything else.

We can only hope that his passing was a faithful reflection of his life: occurring sometime between a meal and a nap, without him ever quite realizing what was happening or feeling any particular urge to find out.

Those of us who had the privilege of knowing him will never forget his extraordinary ability to ignore any event that was not directly related to food, mud, or a comfortable place to lie down. While others chased glory, adventure, or knowledge, Fernando remained steadfast in his principles, rejecting every form of unnecessary effort with admirable consistency.

We will not remember him as the heroic South American traveller who fought tirelessly to make New Zealand his home. That would unfairly credit him with a level of initiative he never displayed. Instead, we will remember him as a casual passenger in a chain of events that somehow deposited him here—a remarkable achievement accomplished without the slightest apparent interest in the process.

And yet, against all odds, he succeeded. Without plans, ambition, clear goals, or probably a complete understanding of where he was, Fernando achieved what millions spend their lives pursuing: a comfortable, secure existence with reliable access to food and excellent napping opportunities.

His legacy is immense. He taught us that not every problem requires a solution; some can simply be ignored until the next meal. He showed us that urgency is optional, that worry is overrated, and that virtually any activity can be improved by making it shorter—or replacing it with a nap altogether.

With his passing, the world has lost one of its foremost experts in doing absolutely nothing. A master of indifference. A virtuoso of relaxation. A true professional of rest.

May the Lord of Capybaras welcome him into the eternal wetlands. Or not. Fernando probably would not have noticed the difference. Wherever he now rests, may there be endless tender grass, pleasantly muddy water, cool shade, and no obligations more demanding than deciding whether to eat now or after one more nap.

Rest in peace, Fernando.
