🀎 Part Lease Opportunities Available 🀎

We've had two very special school horses become available for part lease and, rather than simply filling the spaces, we're looking for the right riders to join our Mahurangi Riding School family.

Our part lease programme is perfect for capable riders who are ready to take the next step beyond weekly lessons. It's an opportunity to build a genuine partnership with one horse, enjoy extra saddle time, and experience many of the rewards (and responsibilities!) of horse ownershipβ€”without the full financial or time commitment.

🐴 Meet the Horses

✨ Zazu
Our much-loved oversized pony and the definition of a schoolmaster.

Zazu is perfect for a teen or lightweight adult (under 80kg) riding at an advanced beginner to intermediate level. Safe, honest and incredibly forgiving, he's the sort of pony that quietly builds confidence and teaches his rider the ropes. Whether your goals are hacking, improving your flatwork or getting out to local competitions, Zazu is a wonderful partner.

✨ Scoobie
15.3hh | Experienced 2* Eventer

Scoobie is a true schoolmaster with a huge amount to offer. He's genuine, kind and has absolutely no dirt, but he's best suited to a capable intermediate rider with soft hands and an independent seat. He's brilliant in lessons and we'd love to see him partnered with someone who also enjoys hacking, schooling and making the most of their extra riding days.

πŸ’š What's Included?

βœ” One coaching lesson each week (group or private)
βœ” Up to two additional riding days each week
βœ” One additional ride must be a hack
βœ” Ongoing coaching and support
βœ” The opportunity to build a real partnership with one horse

🀎 What's Expected?

Part leasing is about much more than extra rides. It's about becoming part of your horse's routine and learning the responsibilities that come with having your "own" horse.

Lease riders are expected to help with their horse's day-to-day care, including grooming, tacking up, feeding when required, cleaning tack, using our Equissage unit weekly, filling hay nets, poo picking, helping around the property, and leaving everything clean and tidy on the two additional days you are up alongside your lesson day.

The best lease partnerships are built on reliability, commitment and genuine care for the horse. Those qualities are just as important to us as riding ability.

πŸ’° Lease Fees

β€’ $150 per week – includes a weekly group lesson (where a suitable group is available) plus up to two additional riding days.

β€’ $190 per week – includes a weekly private lesson plus up to two additional riding days.

A minimum one-term commitment is required, with longer-term leases preferred so both horse and rider have the opportunity to develop a genuine partnership.

If you've been dreaming of having an insight of what it would be like to have your own horse while still enjoying the support of a riding school, this could be the perfect opportunity.

πŸ“© Send us a message if you'd like to be considered. We'll have a chat to make sure it's the right fit for both horse and rider.

We can't wait to find two wonderful people to partner with these very special horses. 🀎

I'm even getting a break these holidays! So nice to have the chance to sign out today for a couple of nights with family, knowing the horses and animals are in good hands between our part leasing crew and one of my fabulous clients.

Here's to reflection and new beginnings - Happy Matariki ✨

Sully could be a full time model if he fails at ridden life πŸ˜‚

Everybody knows I love a boujee halter, you won't find basic ones on my horses 😜 Dublin have sent me a couple to stock up on my range since I keep accidentally accumulating more horses... this one is the Dublin Soft Fit halter, super nice with the fleece padding. It also comes in a wide range of colours and retails for only $34.99 πŸ’πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Banx doesn't just give pony rides... she has party tricks too! The biggest smiles all around 😁❀️

Clever Sully had his first ride today. He's definitely a cruiser, and took it all in his stride. Really enjoying working with this guy, he's so laid back about most things in life which is definitely an attribute I look for with my school horses and has equal amounts of try 😍

The future is bright.. πŸ¦„

Don't worry Tonto, you're still Zoe's fav! Zozo stole Banx this evening for a wee cool down after her rehab session. Lucky girl!

When you buy an unhandled, unbroken welshy for your 5 month old child with the plan of it being their future pony... then 4 years later, they have their first proper riding lesson, on that same pony πŸ₯Ή

SO greatful for the support of Quick Start Roofing - Makaila and Mikey not only donated their services but also secured sponsorship from Metalcraft Roofing, who generously gave us all the roofing iron, gutters and flashings for this project.

Mikey and Makaila are local, and also part of the equestrian community (Makaila and her daughter ride and have several horses at home) and they are just such giving, genuine and hard working people who did this with no ulterior motive. If you need any roofing work done, please support those who have really helped us out here and given our horses a dry place when needed between lessons.
