You have to trust your instincts and the work you have put in." Jo Aleh knows what it takes to win at the highest level. We instil this same work ethic in our sailors at MBSC. Hard work and dedication yield results.

Last weekend, we said a fond farewell to Tiago, our head coach for the last 3 years. Tiago has had a profound effect at MBSC, creating a sense of belief and passion amongst our sailors and showing our coaches how to get the most out of their sailors.

But more than this, we said goodbye to someone who has embraced all that is Kiwi. From surfing to roots reggae, from BBQs to hugs, Tiago reminded us of why NZ is the place we call home.

The results he achieved for our club speak for themselves, but it was his energy and passion for sailing and for success on the water that leaves a lasting legacy for those who come after him.

We wish Tiago every success in his future endeavours, as he heads back to competitive sailing, and we look forward to cheering him on from afar.

Obrigado.

Not sure if Dolly ever sailed, but she certainly understood the brief. RIP.

Saltwater sailing gives young sailors a unique introduction to chemistry. From learning how saltwater affects their gear to understanding corrosion and boat care, every MBSC sailor learns about materials and how the sea shapes science.

Congratulations to MBSC member Phoebe Willis, on gaining a Highly Commended Award at New Zealand Fashion Week for her Starling-inspired outfit. It featured a Fibreglass corset tied with Dyneema, a skirt made from a Starling sail, and was accessorised with sailing-inspired jewellery.

It just shows that sailing is about so much more than being out on the water, and can inspire creativity as well as competition in other areas of life too.

The energy at MBSC is fuelled by our incredible galley team. They ensure our sailors have healthy food after a long day on the water. We could not run our regattas without them.
