She went to the CrossFit Games!!!! (Again)

Little Lis’ Lisa Osborne is back from her amazing performance at the Games. Read on to hear about her experience!

Q: How did you prep for the Games?
A:I followed markholyoakegymnastics programming for the box, plus 2x extra weightlifting sessions and the HYROX conditioning session. I always do extra gymnastics and I also added more running once I knew I had a running workout.

Q: How was it different from the last time you did the Games?
A: This time the workouts were more CrossFit and had more gymnastics. The last time I went it was random – I had an obstacle course, burpees over a hay bale, weighted vest running, swimming a lake, a bike event… it was completely different.

Q: What were you most excited about about?
A: I felt really ready BUT I also didn’t necessarily aim to go the Games this year. I just really loved the training. I did the Open and went, Oh I did pretty well keep going. The Quarterfinals went my way for my sore shoulder, same in the Semis and I didn’t have to push my shoulder too much, and that’s why I got to the Finals. The workouts worked in my favour.

Whereas – in 2017 our aim was to get me to the Games. I went in at 4th position ready to perform CrossFit movements but was totally blown out the water with the workouts not being at all what I’d prepped for. They were totally random and I wasn’t prepared for that.

This time I just enjoyed the journey and that’s the biggest difference. I’m so happy with how I did whereas last time I was really shattered, really disappointed. I thought the workouts sucked, I had put so much time and effort into becoming a great CrossFit athlete with gymnastics and then none of the skills were in the workouts. This time I was ready for anything and everything.

Q: What tips do you have for someone wants to emulate your success and go to the Games?
A: You’ve got to be prepared to do the extra but don’t lose sight of what you love about CrossFit - what brings you the joy and keep that in the workouts. Be safe, don’t go too hard too quickly, go slow and build on things so you don’t get injured. Pace the journey!

🏃‍♂️ Running Workshop Recap! 🏃‍♀️

A huge thank you to Paul White for delivering an awesome 90-minute Running Workshop!

Our 20 attendees learned the basics of running biomechanics, received personalised video analysis, and worked through practical drills to improve running efficiency and confidence.

Whether you’re training for HYROX or CrossFit, these skills will help make your running feel smoother, more efficient, and just that little bit easier.

Missed this one? Don’t worry—the drills and key learnings will be incorporated into our HYROX classes, and we’ll look to run this workshop again next year.

🚣 Keep an eye out for our upcoming Rowing Workshop with Bailey Morrison—another great opportunity to sharpen your skills and improve your performance!
