We finished our season with a home game against U6 Glenora Bears. There were some fantastic runs and try scoring for both teams. All our team played in true Hound Pups style with passion and determination. The whole team worked together supporting each other.

🏉 U10 HOUNDS — SEASON FINALE 🏉

What a way to finish the season! The Hounds faced a fired-up Marist Saints side who came out swinging with some big tackles and plenty of intensity. But the Hounds showed composure, turned the momentum around and built a solid foundation through completed sets and some well-forced kicks.

From there, individual brilliance began to shine. Roman burst the game wide open with a barnstorming run from beyond halfway, powering through to score. Aaron then produced a moment of his own brilliance, intercepting the ball before taking advantage of a quick play-the-ball to dive over and score.

The Hounds added another try before the Saints fought their way back with a string of tries to level the scores just before the final whistle. A well-deserved, hard-fought draw was a fitting way to close out the season! Each player has grown so much through the season and the growth was evident in all the players who took the field.

🏆 Player of the Day — Aaron: An exceptional performance built around outstanding game management and individual brilliance.

💪 Tackler of the Day — Xavier: Tireless work through the middle all game. He never stopped working and was a huge part of the Hounds’ defensive effort, not mention his cheeky try from Dummy half.

🤝 Fair Play — Ihaia: Exceptional service from dummy half and fantastic encouragement of his teammates at half time.

What a season, Hounds! The coaches are incredibly proud of the progress every player has made, both individually and as a team. You’ve worked hard, backed each other and continued to grow all season.

🟤🟢 U11 Hound Dogs 🟢🟤

The Hound Dogs hosted the Glenora All Star Bears at Sunnynook Park in a Friday night thriller. A tough, physical contest between two quality teams and a great spectacle for all supporters.

The first half was a real arm wrestle. The Hound Dogs started strongly and built a 12–0 lead, but the All Star Bears showed plenty of resilience. After earning four repeat sets from back to back penalties and applying constant pressure, Glenora eventually crossed the try line right on half-time to take the score to 12–6.

The second half was where the Hound Dogs found another gear. The boys came out firing and a full-field try from Soane shifted the momentum.

From there, the Hound Dogs grew in confidence, and eventually came away with a dominant 30–6 victory.

A massive thank you to Glenora for a great game and for making the trip out to Sunnynook to finish the season with a game under the lights.

Our U8 GHOUNDS played in their first local derby on Friday night against the U8 Northcote Tigers.

What a game team!!! Another great game from our kids. I'm proud of the efforts from our middles working hard in the middle. To our speedsters working hard on the edges as well. I am very proud of your guys' efforts, too.

One more hit out next weekend team and then straight into preseason for us team!!!

A big mihi again to our whanau and supporters for always turning up week in and week out!! Appreciate you guys 💯💙

Another awesome game from our young pups today at home against the awesome New Lynn Stags u6 team. It was another week with no subs but our young pups keep pushing and are showing some amazing improvements and understanding of the game every week. Our young pups team have come so far this season considering we are a team of mostly 4 year olds. Massive thanks to our awesome coaches Mon and Ofa.

🟤🟢U11 Hound Dogs🟢🟤

The boys travelled to Ellerslie Domain today and came away with a dominant 48–0 victory over the Ellerslie Eagles Rebels.

The boys looked half asleep today and started a bit slow. We had several unforced errors which is out of the ordinary for our team. However, once the boys finally woke up and found their feet, they turned up the heat and showed what they are capable of.

To our boys — only one more game left in the regular season. Let’s finish the season strong next weekend, and continue building towards our Queenstown trip for Global Games! 💪

🏆 Awards

🏆 Fair Play – Gambahl Manuel

With several key players unavailable due to sickness, Gambahl was thrown into the deep end and stepped into the halves despite not training there regularly. He handled the challenge extremely well and also put in a strong defensive performance. Awesome effort Gambahl.

🛡️ Best Defender – Maddox Tupaea

Maddox has been strong defensively all season and continues to set the standard. His line speed, dominant tackles, and ability to slow down the ruck speed were outstanding today. Awesome work Maddox!

🏆 Players of the Days – Soane Sinisa & Adam Drotini

Soane Sinisa

Soane continues to improve every week. Starting in his usual centre position, he scored a couple of great tries off the back of some excellent set plays. He then moved into the halves and was just as dangerous with the ball in hand, while also making some great defensive reads. Keep up the great work Soane!

Adam Drotini

One of the smallest players on the field, but Adam continues to prove that size doesn’t matter. His work from dummy half was crafty, finding space, creating line breaks, and scoring a couple of clever tries. He never shies away from defence and always puts his body on the line for his teammates.
