🚗✨ A moment worth celebrating!
Congratulations to Mike Woodd, the lucky winner of Triathlon New Zealand's annual Suzuki Prize Draw. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our long-standing partners at Suzuki NZ, they've chosen to upgrade their prize from a Suzuki Swift to the stylish new Suzuki Fronx.
It's hard to think of more deserving recipients. Mike and wife Amanda are passionate supporters of the Tri NZ Suzuki Series, familiar faces at events across the country, and proud Team NZL age group reps who regularly fly the New Zealand flag at World Triathlon Championships.
Partnerships like this are what help our sport thrive. Suzuki's continued support of the Tri NZ Suzuki Series, participation initiatives and community pathways helps thousands of New Zealanders discover, enjoy and achieve in triathlon every year.
Congratulations again, Mike and Amanda. We can't wait to see where your new Suzuki Fronx takes you next. 💙🚗🏊🚴🏃

Much like the entirety of last year, the first half of 2026 has been a test of patience for Hayley Cornwall as she fought back from illness and injury. On Saturday in The Netherlands, the Manawatu 19-year-old had her reward, claiming silver in Europe Triathlon Junior Cup Holten.
Cornwall finished 31 seconds behind Belgian Luca Vanderbruggen in the sprint with Brisbane-based Team NZL team-mate Sophie Webber 6th, 1:51 down.
The result will have done Cornwall’s hopes of a start at September’s Junior (U19) World Championships in Pontevedra no harm. She has been selected in the NZ team for Spain but will wait until a special invite being sought by Tri NZ is confirmed before committing to a second European campaign. New Zealand will hope for the spot as Cornwall finished 13th at last year’s Junior worlds in Wollongong and looks to be trending nicely.
In the elite Holten Cup sprints, another Craig Kirkwood-coached athlete, Finnley Oliver, was the best of the Kiwis in 13th, two places ahead of Auckland City Triathlon Club junior Caleb Wagener. Interestingly, Wagener’s 53:05 effort would have comfortably won the Junior men’s title in Holten – that honour went to Czech Matěj Procházka in 56:22 – but Wagener’s build to the Junior Worlds in Pontevedra will be all the better for mixing it in the opening category.
Phoebe Carter was 22nd in the elite women’s race in Holten with Lulu Johnson disqualified
Overnight, Canterbury’s Benjamin Airey and Blenheim’s Gus Marfell will compete in Africa Premier Cup Larache in Morocco.
