A huge thank you to Dr Mark Fulcher for taking time out of his busy schedule to visit our club and share his knowledge on the importance of recognising and managing concussion. Your presentation provided valuable education for our coaches, managers, players, and parents, helping our Stags whānau gain a better understanding of concussion awareness, recognition, and player welfare. The information shared will play an important role in ensuring our sporting environment remains safe and supportive for everyone involved.

We sincerely appreciate the time, effort, and expertise you dedicated to educating our community. Thank you for empowering us with the knowledge needed to better protect and support our players.

Ngā mihi nui, Dr Fulcher.
From all of us at the New Lynn Stags Rugby League Club ❤️🦌🖤

Our very own Valkyries Girls Directors, James Te Pou and Tracey Lupeiki, alongside their dedicated Coaches & Management team continue to lead with passion, care and purpose both on and off the field.

Understanding that mental health is not something to be taken lightly, the Valkyries Coaching and Management staff have worked tirelessly to create a safe and supportive environment where our girls are able to express themselves freely without judgement. A space where young people from all walks of life feel welcomed, valued and respected.

Through the Valkyries programme, our girls are learning life skills beyond rugby league, building confidence, strengthening communication, learning emotional regulation, supporting one another despite differences & developing the ability to perform at their best both on and off the paddock. A huge thank you to Fa’atauanau for taking the time to capture & share this special sit down with our Valkyries whānau, helping spread awareness and encourage important conversations around mental health.

This is what our little club stands for.
This is who we are.
We are Stags.
We are Valkyries.

There goes our Chairwoman. One of the true Heroes of the West❤️🖤

What makes a great Westie? To us, it’s those who show up week after week, making our community a better place.

That’s why we’re introducing our first Hero of The West, Barbara Murphy, Chairman of the New Lynn Stags Rugby League Club

Currently serving her 10th and final year at the helm, Barb has led the Stags into a thriving new era, including a massive boom in the junior girls' game, with 8 new teams.

While Barbara has been Chairman for a decade, her family’s history with the club goes back to the 1960s, when the clubhouse was just a toilet block and the committee sat on beer crates for meetings!

"It’s New Lynn or nothing," she says. "If you have dedicated people behind you, you’ll succeed. Everyone’s there for the love of the game."
