The Science of a Great Squat 🏋️♀️
A good squat is more than just bending your knees—it's one of the best full-body movements you can do.
A quality squat works your glutes, quads, hamstrings and core, while also improving mobility, balance and everyday strength.
✔️ Feet about shoulder-width apart
✔️ Keep your chest proud and core braced
✔️ Hips move back and down together
✔️ Knees track in line with your toes
✔️ Drive through your whole foot to stand tall
Remember, the "perfect" squat looks slightly different for everyone. Your body shape, mobility and injury history all play a part. Focus on good technique and controlled movement rather than chasing depth.

📣Coming to Fitness Hub in July: Feel Good Fridays!
Every Friday morning 8:30-10:30 and afternoon 4:00-6:00 Snells Beach Massage (aka Kara) will be doing chair massage in the class area, with 15 minute back/neck/shoulder sessions for $20.
What is chair massage? You’ll sit in a specially designed chair that supports your upper body for an over-the-clothing massage, no stripping down, no oils to wash off, but a great reset for your muscles and circulation and a nice gift to yourself to kick your weekend off right.
You’ll find a sign-up sheet with available session times for the upcoming Friday on a clipboard on top of the cubbies next to the class area,

How Often Should You Train? 💪
There’s no one-size-fits-all answer. The best training frequency is the one you can do consistently.
✅ Beginners: 2–3 sessions per week
✅ General health & fitness: 3–5 sessions per week
✅ Performance or specific goals: 4–6 sessions per week
Remember, your body gets stronger during recovery, not just during training.
Quality workouts, good sleep, proper nutrition, and rest days are all part of the process.
Consistency beats perfection every time.
A sustainable 3 workouts a week will always outperform an unsustainable 6 workouts a week. 😉

Muscles adapt quickly, but your tendons, ligaments and joints take longer to get stronger. Chasing heavier weights before your body is ready can lead to poor technique, plateaus and injury.

We're excited to announce that our Active Strength & Balance Class is now ACC approved under the Live Stronger for Longer Falls Prevention Programme.
Designed specifically for older adults, these classes help participants:
- Improve strength and balance
- Increase confidence in everyday movement
- Reduce the risk of falls
- Help prevent fractures and maintain independence
Whether you're looking after your own wellbeing or know someone who could benefit, we'd love to welcome you into the programme.
