What a day at 🔥Auckland Open 2026 with .

We had 1️⃣6️⃣ fighters 🥋 step onto the comp, and as a team we came away with: 🥇 6 Gold /🥈 13 Silver /🥉 4 Bronze

Our team had been away from competition for almost a year and a half, but we came back and finished in the top 5 out of 44 gyms.

Some of our competitors were fighting for the first time, and some have only been training for a few terms, but they showed courage, heart, discipline, and real team spirit.

Proud of every single fighter, and the parents behind them. The medals are great, but the effort, growth, and support for each other mean even more.

Looking for a fun and active way to keep the kids moving during the school holidays?

Our Grappling-Lab BJJ Holiday Programme will run from 3rd July to 18th July, giving kids the chance to stay active, build confidence, learn new skills, and spend time on the mats in a positive team environment.

The programme is suitable for kids and teens, with classes focused on Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, self-defence, movement, discipline, and teamwork.

17 years ago, back in 2009 during my purple belt days at the ADCC club in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪 we were backed by an elite coaching team of seven senior master black belts: Carlos Santos, Suyan Queiroz, Olavo Abreu, Sid Jacintho, Alex Paz, Marcelo Motta, and Ricardo Brandao Fraenkel.

Up to three hours daily grind on the mats inside a system that had been running strong since I started my journey in 2001. No shortcuts, real pressure, discipline, and technique. Forever grateful for those 14 years spent learning, growing, and grinding in Abu Dhabi before moving to NZ.

Grappling-Lab BJJ | bjj GL BJJ covers an area of 90 square meters and includes two toilets, a kitchen, and a seating area where you can relax and watch or enjoy your children’s performances. Our gym area also offers plenty of parking, so you’ll never have to worry about finding a spot.
