NZ BOARDSTORE RANGIPUTA KITE WEEKEND🪁🌬️☀️🌊

We're heading into spring westerlies season (fingers crossed 🤞) and planning a long weekend away at Rangiputa for the kite crew. Foilers very welcome too 🤙

Not a lesson weekend — riders need to be independent. Think sessioning together, swapping tips, pushing each other and picking up a few tricks along the way. Bring your own gear, or test something new from the Boardstore range while you're there.

📅 Weekend 1: Thu 24 – Sun 27 September — tides around low
📅 Weekend 2: Thu 1 – Sun 4 October — tides around high, good for foiling

Kiting works at all tides — just note that near high tide, launching can be tricky (drift launch recommended). Advanced riders can also head 1.5km across the channel to Walker Island — a huge white sand bar with a near-perfectly flat bottom. Take care though: the channel crossing is deep and fast-flowing, and that end of the beach is only accessible by vehicle until about mid-tide, with no launch/land beach once you're above mid-tide.

Rangiputa fires best on a SW, but if it swings Easterly we've got Tokerau just down the road as backup.

TARANAKI FOIL WEEKEND

We're planning a trip down to Taranaki and want you to come along.

The plan is simple — a weekend away chasing waves on foils, whether that's wingfoiling, Foil Drive, prone, or SUP. We'll have accommodation sorted and a solid range of demo gear on hand to get you on the water.

Why Taranaki?
Mount Taranaki funnels the wind and stirs up its own local weather, so there's almost always something on somewhere along the coast. With 105km of exposed coastline facing the Tasman Sea and Southern Ocean swells, the region gets rideable conditions in nearly any wind direction — it's why Taranaki's home to the Taranaki Wave Classic, one of the biggest wave-sailing events in the southern hemisphere. Spots like Bayley Road, Waitara, Weld Road and the black sand beach at Oakura are the stuff of legend in the windsports world, and this trip is your chance to get amongst it.

Who is this trip for?
This one's aimed at wingers who can already gybe and hold an upwind line and are keen to start exploring waves, plus Foil Driver's, Prone Foilers and SUP foilers who want to be shown around and guided to the best spots.

On the demo rack we'll have the Armstrong MA MK II and UHA Foils, X-Form Midlength Boards with the New Armstrong Masts, Foil Drive, Duotone Foil Assist, Axis Surge Foils, and a range of Armstrong Wings.

A few new toys getting tested today, Thanks to Armstrong Foils for getting us the new Demo Masts, Mid length boards and Performance X wing.
I tried the 865 Performance mast v2 with a 990 MA v2. Instantly I noticed the improved stiffness while pumping to get going and it really does make the ride more balanced and controlled , especially during carving.
As for the 6m wing - Wow.
I am comparing it to the D lab Duotone Unit and Ozone Flux v2 Allula version, so its has a lot to live up to.
Brilliant wing, very light, super stable, and powerful. I'd say you can go a size down in the 5.5 and 6m sizes, which might also help shorter riders as the span is big.
Big thumbs up from me, but feel free to book in a demo to see for yourself.
Some of this gear is still to be released and will be in very limited supply to start with.

Lots of new gear dropping from Armstrong very soon and today we received our demo board’s, mast’s and wing’s.

In the board department the Mid Length MK II is a completely new design. Volume stays the same but almost everything else has been extensively revised even down to the construction method. The most impressive part is the weight, these boards feel incredibly light while remaining super stiff and strong

Mast’s have been completely re worked to offer greater stiffness and efficiency with the addition of the Performance-X being the most efficient in the lineup.

The Performance-X Wing is an all new offering in Armstrong’s Wing lineup. It utilises light weight stiff material to give the rider greater connection and increased wind range and upwind performance.
