Matariki open mat đŸ„‹âœš

Another public holiday, another excuse to get on the mats together. Albany and Syzygy HQ linked up for open mat and it was exactly what you’d expect—hard rolls and good conversations

Matariki is about connection, reflection, and looking ahead. Feels fitting that we spent it exactly like that, together as one team across two gyms.

Thanks for coming through, Albany. Let’s do it again soon đŸ’Ș

“This is the most fun thing I’ve done these holidays” đŸ„‹

We invited Bitsy, Amelia, Katie and Leah in for some extra mat time over the break as a reward for an outstanding term. Consistent, hardworking, and just kept getting better week after week.

When we asked how the holidays were going, one of them said there hadn’t been much happening - and that training with us was the highlight. Honestly, that’s everything.

Watching these girls grow up on our mats has been one of the best parts of coaching. They came in young, put in the work term after term, and now they’re the ones setting the standard for everyone around them.

This is why we do what we do đŸ’Ș

So proud of you all đŸ„‹

The most important thing that happens at our comps has nothing to do with who wins.

We want our kids to walk away with confidence. To face their fears, deal with the nerves, turn their losses into learnings, and learn how to be a good winner.

Competition gives them something a normal class never can: the chance to perform under pressure, in front of their friends and family, and to keep turning up and trying anyway.

Watching a kid go from nervous and confused to confident and excited, that’s what makes it all worth it.

Sweden’s getting their guy back 🇾đŸ‡ȘđŸ„‹

Rezan GĂŒler came to Auckland for a few months and made our mats feel like home. High level skill, great energy, and the kind of training partner that quietly raises everyone around him.

We’re going to miss having you on the mats, brother. But we’re also slightly relieved our arms won’t hurt so much 😅

Jokes aside, it’s been a genuine pleasure. Syzygy will always have a spot for you whenever you’re back in Auckland. Don’t make us wait too long.

Safe travels, Rezan. Go show Sweden what you learned đŸ’Ș

Term 2 Grading Day đŸ„‹

Every single one of them. New belts, new chapters, and a whole lot of hard work finally recognised.

This is what showing up every week looks like. Not just learning jiu-jitsu, but building discipline, resilience, and confidence that carries way beyond these mats.

Proud of every kid in this photo. You earned it đŸ’Ș

Now get back to work. Term 3 isn’t going to train itself đŸ˜€

32 kids stepped on the mat this weekend

We are so proud of all our young competitors facing their fears and competing this weekend!

We run this at the end of every term, a chance for our kids to compete in a familiar environment, in front of their own team. No pressure. Just the experience of stepping up and trying

Term 3 enrolments open now, drop us a DM

Jumpstart was just the beginning đŸ„‹

Welcome to Jumpstart 2.0, where the real work starts.

These guys earned their spot here by showing up, finishing the course, and deciding they weren’t done. That commitment doesn’t go unnoticed.

Two sessions. Morning and evening. Both squads ready to take their jiu-jitsu to the next level.

Energy flows where focus goes. Let’s build đŸ’Ș
