TOMORROW, WE CELEBRATE
What an incredible weekend it has been.
We began by inspiring the next generation through basketball.
Now, we come together to celebrate our community through music, culture and connection.
Tomorrow, we're honored to welcome Josh Tatofi to British Columbia, Vancouver(Fox Caberet) as part of the Tavake Summer of Connections.
Josh's music has brought together families and communities across the Pacific for years. Now, we're excited to continue that spirit of connection right here in Canada.
This concert is more than a performance.
It's an opportunity to celebrate who we are, where we've come from and the communities that continue to support one another.
To everyone who joined us at the Tavake Island Roots Hoops Camp, thank you for helping launch this journey.
Now...
The celebration continues.
See you tomorrow for an unforgettable evening.

FROM INSPIRATION TO CELEBRATION
This weekend began with basketball.
It ended with culture.
As half time sounded on our inaugural 'Future Vikes Showcase,' we gathered together for a special Polynesian cultural performance a reminder that while basketball brought us together, culture keeps us connected.
One of the most meaningful moments of the afternoon was seeing families, campers, coaches, players and community members take part in 'fakapale' - a cherished Tongan tradition of honoring and celebrating performers through the giving of gifts or money as a sign of gratitude, encouragement and respect.
For many, it was their very first experience witnessing this beautiful tradition.
For others, it was a chance to reconnect with their heritage.
For all of us, it was a powerful reminder that the 'Tavake Summer of Connections' is about more than sport.
It's about bringing people together.
Sharing our cultures.
Learning from one another.
And building a community where everyone belongs.
π 'The Inspiration phase has been completed.'
πΊ 'Now we enter the Celebration phase.'
Thank you to everyone who made this weekend so special.
This is only the beginning.

DAY ONE, WHAT A START!
Today, the vision became reality.
The very first Tavake Island Roots Hoops Camp welcomed 65 young athletes to the University of Victoria for a day filled with learning, laughter, new friendships and plenty of basketball.
From the very first warm-up to the final competition, the gym was full of energy.
Young athletes challenged themselves.
Coaches poured into every player.
Parents cheered from upstairs.
And together, we began building something much bigger than a basketball camp.
At Tavake, our theme this weekend is INSPIRE.
Not just to become better basketball playersβ¦
but to become confident teammates, leaders and young people who believe in themselves.
To every camper, parent, coach, volunteer and community partner - thank you for making Day One unforgettable.
π But we're not finished yet...
Tomorrow we'll return to the court for another morning of skill development, competitions, prizes and we'll finish the weekend with our exclusive Future Vikes Showcase, where the UVic Vikes Men's Basketball Team will take on the Tavake Rising Stars.
The best is still to come.
See you tomorrow.

BONUS EXPERIENCE ADDED
At Tavake, we're about creating moments that inspire.
That's why we're excited to announce an exclusive addition to this year's inaugural Tavake Island Roots Hoops Camp.
Every registered camper and their families are invited to an exclusive UVic Vikes Showcase on Sunday 12.30pm!
As part of the camp experience, you'll have the opportunity to watch members of the University of Victoria Vikes Men's Basketball team take the court against the Tavake Rising Stars in a special exhibition.
This isn't just another basketball game.
It's an experience.
It's an opportunity for young athletes to see where hard work, dedication, and believing in yourself can lead.
To watch university athletes compete up close.
To meet the players.
To ask questions.
To dream a little bigger.
Because every Vikes player was once a young athlete who started exactly where our campers are today.

WHY WE COACH
Coach AT
*"I coach because I want to continue to be a role model for youth and continuously promote progress on and off the court."*
For Coach AT, basketball has always been about more than developing great players.
It's about helping young people become confident leaders, supportive teammates and role models in their families and communities.
Every practice is an opportunity to encourage growth.
Every conversation is a chance to inspire.
Every athlete deserves someone who believes in them.
That's the kind of environment we're building at the **Tavake Island Roots Hoops Camp** where character matters just as much as basketball.
**ONLY A FEW MORE DAYS TO GO!**
If you're looking for a camp where your child will be challenged, encouraged, and inspired both **on and off the court,** we'd love to welcome them.
